🌸Congratulations to our 2026 Be You Bloom Award recipient, Stacey Smith!

Meet Stacey- a dedicated public servant, entrepreneur, and woman with a big dream she's working hard to bring to life.

For the past 17 years, Stacey has served the City of Huntsville Police Department and currently works as a School Resource Officer, where she continues to make a difference in the lives of students and our community.

But her story doesn’t stop there.

While balancing a demanding career, Stacey is also pursuing her dream of opening her own glamping business in the beauty of the Piney Woods. She has been putting in the work- attending workshops and conferences, connecting with organizations and mentors, and doing everything she can to turn her vision into reality.

That determination, drive, and willingness to continue growing are exactly what the Be You Bloom Award is all about.

Thanks to Chick-fil-A of Huntsville, we are able to invest in Stacey and support her as she takes this next step toward her dreams. We can't wait to see where this journey takes her!

Today we’re celebrating Emma Okruhlik’s ONE YEAR work anniversary at the Walker County Chamber of Commerce! 🥳

As our Events Director, Emma has spent the last year bringing energy, creativity, organization, and A LOT of moving pieces together to make some of our biggest events happen.

If you’ve been to Diva Night, the Chamber Clay Classic, Be You Women’s Luncheon, Fair on the Square, our Awards Luncheon, or the Annual Gala & Auction… you’ve seen Emma’s work in action!

From planning the details to coordinating the teams, solving the unexpected problems, and somehow keeping a smile on her face through it all, Emma has become such an important part of the Chamber team and our community. ❤️

Entergy Texas urges customers to prepare for Tropical Storm Edouard
Heavy rainfall, flash flooding and strong winds could impact Southeast Texas as storm approaches the coast

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Entergy Texas is urging customers to finalize their storm preparations as Tropical Storm Edouard approaches the Southeast Texas coast.

The current National Hurricane Center forecast calls for 3 to 6 inches of rainfall across portions of our service territory, with up to 9 inches possible. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, and tropical-storm-force winds are possible along coastal areas.

Entergy Texas is prepared to respond to any impacts from Tropical Storm Edouard. The company activated its emergency operations center and strategically positioned crews and equipment across Southeast Texas ahead of the storm.

Customers should put safety first and continue monitoring the latest forecasts and guidance from local emergency management officials.

“Customers should be finalizing their storm plans,” said Stuart Barrett, vice president of customer service for Entergy Texas. “We encourage customers to stay in touch with us throughout the storm for the latest information on outages and restoration efforts.”

Stay safe during and after the storm

Entergy Texas encourages customers to take the following steps to stay safe:

Stay away from downed power lines: Always assume a downed line is energized and dangerous. Call 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243) to report downed or damaged power lines.
Avoid flooded areas: Never walk or drive through floodwaters. Flooding can hide electrical hazards, downed power lines and other dangers.
Use generators safely: Never operate a generator indoors or in an enclosed space and follow manufacturer instructions.
Stay indoors during severe weather: Avoid unnecessary travel as heavy rainfall and flooding could make roads dangerous or impassable.
Keep your distance from working crews: Work sites can have any number of hidden dangers for the public, and distracting crews can cause accidents to happen.

🐝Be You Women's Luncheon 2026 Presented by Entergy

This year’s luncheon brought women from across our community together for connection, encouragement, meaningful conversations, and a reminder to prioritize what it means to truly be well.

We were honored to welcome author and counselor Christine Hoover, Licensed Counselor as our keynote speaker. Christine encouraged us to make three intentional choices: security instead of scarcity, wonder instead of worry, and community instead of comparison.

From the Buzz Before Lunch to an inspiring wellness conversation, sweet treats from Red Bird Creamery, raffles, and celebrating Stacey Smith as the recipient of the Be You Bloom Award underwritten by Chick-fil-A of Huntsville, the room was filled with encouragement and connection.
