The University of Cincinnati Astro Cats is group of seniors in the College of Engineering and Applied Science competing in the NASA University Student Launch Initiative. The UC Astrocats will be designing and constructing a rocket that reaches an altitude as close to 5280 feet as possible. The rocket will contain a planetary probe that will be deployed via a fairing design. The planetary probe wil
l collect atmospheric data and photos, and transmit the data and photos to the ground control in real time. The data will be plotted to describe the relationship of the data values to altitude and velocity. Not only will the Astro Cats be deisigning building rockets, but we will also be teaching over 200 high school students rocket physics, with hands on design and contruction of water bottle rockets. The information taught will come from NASA documentation on water bottle rockets. We will work with the teachers at the high school to make sure our lesson will relate to what the students have learned in the classroom.
