Look up tonight! 🌕🌑

A deep partial lunar eclipse will be visible across much of the Americas, Europe and Africa overnight August 27–28. At its peak, approximately 96% of the Moon will pass into Earth’s darkest shadow, creating an almost-total eclipse and giving the lunar surface a reddish glow.

The partial eclipse begins at 10:33 p.m. EDT, with maximum eclipse occurring at 12:13 a.m. EDT. No special equipment or eclipse glasses are needed—just clear skies and a good view of the Moon!

What can radar tell us about the secrets of the North American monsoon? 📡🌩️

A new Baron-built C-band, dual-polarization radar is supporting a major Department of Energy-funded study led by Arizona State University to better understand how extreme heat, dust, urban growth, and the desert environment shape monsoon storms in Phoenix.

Learn more about the DUSTIEAIM project:

Every summer, the monsoon brings severe storms that can sweep through the metropolitan Phoenix area like wrecking balls, taking trees, roads and roofs with them.
