That's a wrap on ! 🎉

What an incredible few days. We had a great time exhibiting and connecting with so many talented people doing meaningful work across the federal and defense community. The energy throughout the conference was outstanding, and the networking events and socials did not disappoint. (Shoutout to the brave GovCons who got on mechanical bulls at Boots, Bulls & Business. You know who you are. 🤠)

A few exhibit hall standouts that caught our attention:

9th Way Insignia wins the creativity award. A life-sized cybersecurity voodoo doll. Yes, really. It was one of the most memorable conversation starters on the exhibit floor.

SYMCUE is tackling a topic that most organizations overlook when investing in AI: the human side. They focus on building the critical thinking and Human-AI teaming skills that help workforces actually get value from the tools they use.

Struction Solutions brought a few impressive drones to the floor, giving attendees a closer look at how aerial technology is being applied to disaster response, infrastructure inspection, and public safety.

And we also made a new robot friend from Aquia. 🤖

It was especially great catching up with our Dayton friends and making a few new ones along the way. The connections and relationships are always among the best parts of events like VETS.

To everyone who stopped by our booth, grabbed coffee with us, or crossed paths with us at one of the networking events, thank you. This community is one of a kind, and we are already looking forward to next year.

As we observe Memorial Day, we honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice, courage, and commitment to something greater than themselves continue to inspire us. We remember them with profound gratitude and respect.

The May 31, 2026 Deadline is almost here.

Government contractors with IR&D reporting obligations should not wait to review their DTIC submission requirements. After the DTIC portal outage, contractors now face a compressed timeline to enter required IR&D project information, including new projects, annual updates, and closed projects.

Read our article to understand the May 31 deadline and what contractors should be reviewing now.

Going live is not the same as being ready.
For government contractors, a Deltek Costpoint implementation that focuses solely on system setup can create problems that surface later in billing, reporting, indirect rates, project structure, training, and compliance-related processes.
A GovCon-focused implementation approach connects system design with the contract and operational requirements behind it, helping teams move beyond launch and toward real operational readiness.
Read our article to learn why the right Deltek Costpoint implementation approach matters.

Could your noncommercial contract be harder to defend?

OMB’s latest guidance directs agencies to buy commercial products and services when possible, and to justify noncommercial acquisitions when they do not. For government contractors, this could lead to more questions about commerciality, pricing support, market research, cost-reimbursement contracts, and whether existing work should continue as currently structured.

If your team supports noncommercial awards, cost-reimbursement contracts, or products and services that may need a commerciality determination, this is an important shift to understand.

Read the article to see where contractors may feel the impact and what documentation may become more important.

Your QuickBooks reports may balance, but that does not mean your accounting structure is ready for government contracting.

A chart of accounts that is too broad or built on a generic small-business setup can make it harder to separate direct, indirect, and unallowable costs, support billing, calculate rates, and respond when a customer or auditor asks questions.

This article explains why chart of accounts decisions matter early, where contractors often run into trouble, and how the right structure can support stronger reporting, greater cost visibility, and better compliance as the business grows.

Read the article to see why this foundational setup decision deserves closer attention.

An ADA accommodation request does not have to come through a formal process to create compliance risk. For government contractors, delayed responses, inconsistent handling, and weak documentation can create avoidable problems for leadership, HR, and managers.

This article takes a closer look at why these requests deserve careful attention.

For government contractors preparing incurred cost submissions by June 30, the updated DCAA ICE Model is worth reviewing before the final submission stage.

Version 1.04 addresses issues in the earlier Power Query model, including contract ceiling information on Schedule I, and includes revised instructions for properly running the model. Contractors still using the Visual Basic version also need to be aware of the Contractor Submission Portal file format restrictions.

These may seem like technical details, but they can cause avoidable submission issues if discovered too close to the deadline.

Read our article to understand what changed, why it matters now, and what contractors should review before submitting.

DCAA’s Phase 3 reorganization may create new confusion for government contractors. Shifting points of contact, less auditor continuity, and continued reliance on virtual audits can make it harder to manage documentation requests and respond efficiently.

Our latest article explains what these changes may mean for contractors, why they matter, and where disruption could first appear. Read our article to better understand the risks and what your team should be watching now.

An Accounting System Go-Live can create a false sense of completion. For government contractors, the first payrolls, billing cycles, and month-end closes are often when issues surface, staff confidence is tested, and rework begins to accumulate. When support drops off too early, those problems can affect billing, reporting, and other routine processes that support contract performance.

Read our article to see why ongoing support in Unanet matters after implementation and why the transition into live use is often where the real work begins.
