This week’s release of the proposed Part 108 BVLOS rule is more than a policy update—it’s the framework that could take drones from remote-controlled tools to autonomous, AI-driven mission partners.

During a high-speed vehicle pursuit, a SkyfireAI drone was diverted by a Multi-Agency Crime Center to assist. The suspect, riding a high-powered dirt bike, was evading ground patrol units by weaving through residential neighborhoods. With AI-powered video and thermal imaging, the drone quickly gained visual contact—tracking the suspect even after they escaped patrol vehicles.

When the dirt bike malfunctioned near a tree line, the drone provided precise location data to responding units, enabling them to safely surround and apprehend the suspect without further incident.
