A week of commemorative events marked the centennial anniversary of the 1926 Pabst Mine Cave-In Disaster. Local historians and organizations brought awareness and pride to the heroic rescue that saved 43 trapped miners, drawing national attention to the Gogebic-Iron Range.

We didn’t have room this week to share all the fun from opening day at Swartz Family Farm's Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze in Saxon last Saturday. Three generations came together to share a tradition that keeps growing year after year.

FOOTBALL IS BACK HOME TOMORROW! Northstars take on Shell Lake Lakers at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field in Hurley.

The action is already in full swing today: Break out the camouflage and pack the stands for our Lady Tigers! Mercer volleyball hosts the Midgets at 6 p.m. while Hurley volleyball faces LCO away, and cross country races at Bayfield.

It is bittersweet that we get to share Ashlyn's last community project with you this week. As a valued member of the Miner team, we wish Ashlyn all the best on her upcoming journey. Though she is off to seek higher education and worldly experiences, we will enjoy the mark she's left across Iron County for generations to come. Good luck, Ashlyn!
