Great projects start with great partnerships (and great BBQ)! 🤝

We recently had the opportunity to show our appreciation for our OHT Partners at their Dallas office with some delicious BBQ from Rocco's!

It was a pleasure spending time with OHT's project managers and ownership team, celebrating a partnership built on years of trust, collaboration, and shared success.

At Blink Energy Services, we know that building a successful company takes more than technical expertise. It takes clear communication, strong leadership, and a team that knows how to work together.

Our own Gary McCoy recently joined Justin Neagle and Foret on the Building Scale podcast for a conversation about “Elevated Office Culture: Assessments Build Stronger Teams.”

Energy Efficiency Day gives us a chance to recognize the work that goes into improving building performance long before a project is complete.

For the teams we work with, energy efficiency is tied to decisions made throughout design, construction, testing, commissioning, and operations.

When those pieces are coordinated well, the result is a building that operates closer to its design intent, creates fewer issues after turnover, and performs better over the long term.

That’s the work we’re proud to be part of every day, alongside the project teams, contractors, owners, and facility professionals who are pushing building performance forward.

What does a tractor have to do with Blink Energy Services?

Quite a bit, actually. 🚜

Blink started by looking to make some extra money on the weekends.

Gary, specifically, had his eye on a tractor for his farm.

Pretty straightforward goal. What came next? Not so small.

One project led to another. The work became more technical. The problems became more interesting, and what started as a way to make some extra cash grew into the Blink team we are today.

A lot has changed since those early days, but one thing hasn’t: We want people to understand what’s happening, why it matters, and what to do next.

That philosophy shapes how we approach energy code, building science, inspections, testing, commissioning, and building performance. We’re not here just to point out a problem and hand over a report. We’re here to help teams understand the issue, figure out how to fix it, and keep the project moving.

Gary recently sat down with MARKA GROUP to share more about how Blink got started, how the business has grown, and what we’ve learned along the way. And yes, the tractor story made the cut. 🚜 🎙️

We had a great time presenting to the North Texas Chapter of the International Code Council at the City of Frisco’s new municipal building.

There were city officials, inspectors, plan reviewers, and other industry professionals in the room, and we spent a lot of time talking about how cities and third-party providers can work better together.

That kind of collaboration matters. When everyone is on the same page, requirements are clearer, issues can be caught earlier, and projects have a better chance of moving forward without unnecessary delays or rework.

At Blink, we believe our job is more than pointing out what needs to be fixed. We want to help teams understand what’s required, why it matters, and what to do next. That same mindset applies when we work with municipalities.

Thanks to the North Texas Chapter of ICC and the City of Frisco for having us. We appreciated the conversation and the chance to connect with so many people working to make the process better.

Even strong project teams can miss things when schedules are tight, trades are moving quickly, and dozens of decisions are happening at once.

That is where third-party quality assurance adds value. It gives project managers and construction teams greater visibility into what is actually being installed, helps identify issues while there is still time to address them, and provides another layer of verification without working against the contractor.

Good QA and commissioning are not just about finding problems. They are about clear communication, better oversight, and helping the entire team understand what is happening, why it matters, and what needs attention next.

What makes Blink different is not just what we know, but how we work with people.

We believe clients should understand what is happening on their project, why it matters, and what they can do about it. That is why we take the time to explain the process, answer questions, and make complex building science easier to understand and actually use.

We also believe our job is bigger than showing up, completing a test, and handing over a report. We want to be part of the process, helping teams catch issues earlier, avoid unnecessary rework, and make decisions that improve both the current project and the ones that come after it.

That same mindset carries through everything we do. We care about doing the work correctly, making the experience as straightforward as possible, and helping create buildings that perform better for the people who own them, operate them, and spend time inside them.

For us, that is what being a good partner looks like, and it is a big part of what makes Blink different.

Quality assurance sounds like something that happens at the end. For us, it’s much more useful before you get there.

Blink’s Quality Assurance services are built around practical, third-party oversight in the field: documenting what’s there, checking conditions during construction, keeping an eye on systems over time, and taking a closer look when something needs more attention.

That can include asset tagging and documentation, MEP and architectural site visits, ongoing QA/QC, preventative maintenance inspections, and custom testing and verification.

The idea is pretty simple: better information leads to better decisions.

Instead of relying on assumptions, incomplete records, or waiting for a small issue to become a bigger one, your team gets a clearer picture of what’s happening in the building and what deserves attention.

Not every building needs every service. The right scope depends on what you actually need to know.
