Memorial day I think, should be a somber day. We recognize the many lives given to the service and safety of their fellow citizens. Theres a beautiful sacredness in that, an example of the best that humans are capable of. We should also recognize that many of those who gave their lives were compelled to, because of poverty. Many more were deceived into thinking they were fighting for good in the world, when they were actually fighting for greed, more specifically the greed of powerful people deepening their power, by stripping it from others. This is a disgusting slap in the face to humanity and to humans who make the sacrifice of death and bodily harm. This memorial day, make sure your life is helping move the world toward cooperation and multiracial democracy, so youre not being another “useful idiot” for the predator class, like I once was.
Which wars were for good over greed? The American Revolution was good, witnessing democracy win against the monarchs, who by the way are always appointees of some church or another. The US turned for a time, toward settler colonialism, with the indian wars and mexican-american war. We returned to fight for good in defeating the traitors in the US South, and then again with the Spanish-American War. Woodrow Wilson, the racist that he was, did a good thing for democracy when he financed both sides of WW1 and helped the US become a global power. We were again fighting for a free and democratic world in WW2, and the Cold War against Soviets that were overtaken by Stalinism. Korea and Vietnam were then extensions of war against Russia. We were “the good guys” still in the Gulf War, when we led 42 countries against an Iraq that was both oppressing its own people and attacking Kuwait; however you know we were licking our lips over the vast oil beds recently discovered under the entire middle east! That was the motive behind western powers inventing a white settler colonialist nation called israel. Then, the entire ‘War On Terror’ was nothing but the US trying to get at that oil and minerals, which weve been doing in Iran and in Africa too. Despite what the billionaires want us to believe, taking what is not ours makes us less safe, not more. But theyll do anything to keep convincing us to send our children to fight their forever wars. And the people who steward the lands we raid are not savages for us to swoop in and save and shove our god down their throats. They are human beings capable of deciding right from wrong, and buddy, stealing their stuff does not make us graceful and good, it makes us a disgrace. It makes us the savages. Dont get mad, get educated. Or get mad, but direct it at those who deceived you, not those trying to educate you. So no, I dont celebrate memorial day, I commemorate it. 🙏🏽♥️🇺🇸
