Know what to do before a wildfire threatens your home!

If a wildfire is approaching your area, your safety comes first. Here are a few important steps to help protect your propane system:

βœ… Keep the area around your propane tank clear of dry grass, weeds, leaves, and other combustible materials.
βœ… If it is safe to do so, close the propane supply valve on your tank before evacuating.
βœ… Leave your propane tank in place. Do not try to move it.
βœ… Follow evacuation orders immediately. Never stay behind to protect your tank or property.
βœ… After the fire has passed, do not turn your propane back on yourself. If your tank, gas lines, or appliances may have been exposed to fire or extreme heat, contact LP Propane before using your system.

Our team is here to help inspect your propane system and make sure everything is safe before you return to normal use.

Ever wonder why propane has that distinctive β€œrotten egg” smell? Propane is actually odorless. A harmless odorant called ethyl mercaptan is added to make leaks easy to detect. It’s so potent that the human nose can detect it in concentrations as small as one part per billion. That unmistakable smell serves as an early warning system, helping keep homes and families safe. If you ever smell propane, leave the area immediately and contact your propane provider.
