Initial attack on the Target Fire 🔥

Our crews were hard at work responding to the fire, putting their training and experience to work on the ground.

Before the work begins, it starts with being prepared 🔥

Gear checks, line readiness, and inspections are all part of making sure the crew and equipment are ready for whatever the day brings. Every detail matters before heading out to the line.

It’s more than just a long day on your feet.

Wildland firefighters can carry around 30–50+ pounds of gear while working on the fire line—including their pack, water, tools, PPE, and other essential equipment. Depending on the assignment and terrain, crews can cover several miles in a shift, often over steep, uneven ground and in challenging conditions.

Before stepping onto the fire line, the work starts in the classroom 🔥

Every new firefighter at ASI goes through training, building the knowledge and understanding they’ll need before putting those skills into practice in the field.

Classroom instruction and hands-on training both play an important role in preparing our crews to work safely, communicate effectively, and understand what’s expected when they’re out on the line.

Learn it. Practice it. Then put it to work.

Not a bad office view.. 🌲⛰️🔥

Wildland firefighting takes our crews through some incredible terrain — from dense forests and steep ridgelines to wide-open mountain views most people never get the chance to see.

The work is demanding and the days can be long, but every once in a while, you get a view that makes you stop and appreciate where the job takes you.

Progress, one hose length at a time 💪

This crew is working a progressive hose lay, a wildland firefighting tactic used to extend a charged hose line farther along the fire’s edge as firefighters advance. Crews add additional sections of hose as they move forward, maintaining access to water while working to cool hot spots, knock down flames, and strengthen containment.

It takes communication, coordination, and a crew that knows how to keep things moving efficiently in challenging terrain.

A little road work behind the scenes 🌲

Our crews are out brushing roads—clearing back vegetation to improve access and help keep routes safer and more manageable for crews, equipment, and vehicles working in the area.

While most people are sleeping, our crews are still putting in the work 🔥

Headlamps on and a team you can count on beside you. Just another night on the fireline. Proud of the dedication our crews bring to every shift.
