Spring is the perfect time for a fresh start in Kenton County! 🌼 Our annual Spring Clean Up returns April 24 & 25 to help residents safely dispose of household items that don’t go out with regular trash.

Kenton County residents (proof of residency required) can drop off electronics, yard debris, mattresses (limit 2 per household), appliances, scrap metal, tires (limit 8 per household), and more—for free (some fees may apply for certain items like Freon appliances or extra tires).

• Kenton County Public Works (420 Independence Station Road, Independence, KY) – 8 AM–4 PM both days (tires & appliances accepted here only)
• Piner Elementary (2845 Piner Ridge Road, Morning View, KY) – 8 AM–4 PM Friday, 8 AM–1 PM Saturday

📆 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲! 📆Kenton County's annual Spring Clean Up returns April 24 & 25.

Each year, this event provides Kenton County residents with the opportunity to dispose of household items for FREE. Residents can bring their items to both Kenton County Public Works and Piner Elementary either day from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Piner closes at 1:00 PM on Saturday).

Before you ring in 2026, make sure your real Christmas tree has a second life! Recycle your undecorated tree at a local drop-off location and help create underwater cover for fish across Kentucky.

Christmas tree 🌲 mulching schedule

Taking down your Christmas tree? Don't just toss it - recycle it with Kenton County Public Works. 🎄

This January, our team will visit cities throughout Kenton County to mulch discarded Christmas trees. Check out the graphic below for participating cities, including where and when to take you tree. If you can't make it in time for your city's disposal day, you can also bring your old tree to Kenton County Public Works (420 Independence Station Rd, Independence 41051) from Jan. 5-16 during regular business hours.

Please ensure your trees are free of any hooks, wires or lights. And remember, this program is for trees only - no lights.

Our annual 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 is just around corner, and we want to ensure you have everything you need on the day of starting with your registration form. Make sure to print out and complete the form below 𝘉𝘌𝘍𝘖𝘙𝘌 coming to the event on Nov. 1 at Thomas More Stadium.

And if you're not sure what is considered a "hazardous waste," then you're in luck! Your registration form also contains a list of what items are accepted at the event. Just check the box next to what items you're bringing so our team members can help you know where to go once you arrive.
