Kenton County Public Works hosts its annual Spring Cleanup event each year to help residents responsibly dispose of large household items that regular trash collection cannot handle. The 2026 event takes place on Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25

Spring is the perfect time for a fresh start in Kenton County! ๐ŸŒผ Our annual Spring Clean Up returns April 24 & 25 to help residents safely dispose of household items that donโ€™t go out with regular trash.

Kenton County residents (proof of residency required) can drop off electronics, yard debris, mattresses (limit 2 per household), appliances, scrap metal, tires (limit 8 per household), and moreโ€”for free (some fees may apply for certain items like Freon appliances or extra tires).

Each year, this event provides Kenton County residents with the opportunity to dispose of household items for FREE. Residents can bring their items to both Kenton County Public Works and Piner Elementary either day from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Piner closes at 1:00 PM on Saturday).

Christmas tree ๐ŸŒฒ mulching schedule

Taking down your Christmas tree? Don't just toss it - recycle it with Kenton County Public Works. ๐ŸŽ„

This January, our team will visit cities throughout Kenton County to mulch discarded Christmas trees. Check out the graphic below for participating cities, including where and when to take you tree. If you can't make it in time for your city's disposal day, you can also bring your old tree to Kenton County Public Works (420 Independence Station Rd, Independence 41051) from Jan. 5-16 during regular business hours.

Please ensure your trees are free of any hooks, wires or lights. And remember, this program is for trees only - no lights.
