If a mobile food unit wants to work somewhere in Kansas, they need 1 license and 1 inspection to operate in the entire state 👉 If that same MFU wants to work in Missouri, they have to meet the requirements for each city AND each county, so here's the example we use:

If a food truck wants to do business at the stadiums in KCMO, then go to their neighbors the next few days-- Independence and Raytown-- They have to have 3 different licenses and 5 different inspections to be in compliance 👉🤯

We can do better, and we WILL do better 💪

Today, Executive Director Danielle DuPree attended the “Indicators of Entrepreneurship” event hosted by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation at the National WWI Museum and Memorial alongside Ennovation Center Board Director Christina Leakey, President & CEO of Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity.

The event highlighted 30 years of tracking national and state entrepreneurship trends, startup growth, economic mobility, and the importance of supporting innovators and small businesses in our communities. Hearing insights from nationally recognized leaders, researchers, and policymakers reinforced something we see every day at the Ennovation Center:

Entrepreneurship changes lives, strengthens communities, and fuels economic growth.

We are proud to continue empowering entrepreneurs right here in Independence and across the Kansas City region through business consulting, mentorship, affordable resources, commercial kitchens, labs, and collaborative partnerships.

We are very blessed to have the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City!

The future of entrepreneurship is being built right now — and we are excited to be part of that journey. 🚀

One of our favorite traditions to wrap up the school year is participating in the Fort Connect Event with the amazing 4th graders from Fort Osage School District!

There is something incredibly special about watching 11-year-olds dream big. At this age, students are beginning to discover their interests, their confidence, and the possibility that they could one day become business owners, inventors, creators, chefs, scientists, artists, and community leaders.

Every year, the energy, creativity, and enthusiasm these students bring absolutely fills the room. From sharing business ideas to asking thoughtful questions, these young minds remind us exactly why entrepreneurship education matters. 💡

At the Ennovation Center, we believe inspiration can spark early — and sometimes all it takes is one conversation, one idea, or one event to plant the seed for a future entrepreneur.

Thank you to the teachers, staff, and students of Fort Osage Schools for inviting us to be part of such a fun and inspiring event again this year. We can’t wait to see what these future business leaders accomplish! 🚀
