I always appreciate hearing from homeowners in the Greater Charlotte area after we've been helping them keep their property pest free.

Here's a recent 5-star review from Mihail Nokhrin:
"They come out to my house and my mom's every few months. Easy to work with and they do a great job."

Spider prevention isn't usually about one visit. Like many pest issues, it works best when the property is checked regularly and small problems are dealt with before they become bigger ones.

I'm grateful that Mihail trusts us to look after both his home and his mom's, and I appreciate him taking the time to share his experience.

When I'm dealing with spider activity, I'm usually paying just as much attention to the insects as I am to the spiders.

Spiders settle where they can easily find food, so I spend time looking at outdoor lighting, landscaping, garages, porches, storage areas, and other places where insects gather.

Here in the Greater Charlotte area, I also check exterior corners, window frames, eaves, and entry points where spiders commonly build webs without being disturbed.
That part matters.

If you only remove the webs but leave the conditions the same, new spiders often move right back into those areas.

The best long-term results usually come from reducing both the spider activity and the things that attract them in the first place.

If you're starting to notice more spiders around your home, the first thing I recommend is paying attention to where the webs keep showing up.

If you're removing webs from the same corner every few days, there's usually a reason that area keeps attracting spiders.

Take a look around your home for overgrown shrubs touching the house, clutter in the garage, or outdoor lights that stay on all night and attract insects.

Those simple things can make a property much more appealing to spiders than most people realize.

I shared more tips from a recent spider prevention job here in the Greater Charlotte area in this month's journal.

I usually start getting more calls about spiders around the Greater Charlotte area during August.

Most homeowners are not worried because they only see a spider here and there.

What usually gets their attention is finding fresh webs around the garage, porch, or patio every few days.

Those webs are often a sign that spiders have found a good place to stay.

Around this time of year, insects are still very active, and spiders tend to settle wherever they have a steady food source and quiet places to hide.

I recently helped a homeowner whose spider problem started exactly that way.

I wrote up the full job and how it worked out in this month's journal entry.

I really appreciated this review from Rob Tebbutt here in the Greater Charlotte area:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“I know David personally and can say he’s honest, professional, and truly cares about his customers. He runs a family business with integrity and is someone I would confidently recommend to others!”

That means a lot to me.

Pest control is personal because people are trusting you around their home and family. Whether it is rodents, termites, mosquitoes, or another pest issue, I want homeowners to feel like they got honest answers and a clear plan.

A few good questions to ask any pest company are:
What did you find? How are they getting in? What can I fix around the property? What should I keep an eye on after the service?

Thanks again to Rob for the kind words and for recommending our family business.

When I’m handling a rodent issue, I’m not just looking for where the rodents are today.

I want to know how they are getting in and what is bringing them close to the home in the first place.

Here in the Greater Charlotte area, that usually means checking garage doors, crawl spaces, attics, vents, utility lines, and small gaps around the exterior. I also look at travel routes, food sources, storage areas, and landscaping that gives rodents cover as they move around the property.

That part matters.

If you only deal with the rodents but leave the entry points open, the same problem can come back later.

The best results usually come from addressing both sides — the current activity and the conditions that allowed it to start.

Before you do anything else for rodents, take a slow walk around the outside of your home.

I always tell homeowners to look low and look closely. Check around garage doors, utility lines, crawl space areas, vents, and anywhere something small could squeeze through.

Mice do not need much room to get inside.

Then check the garage, shed, and storage areas. Open bags of pet food, bird seed, or cluttered corners can make a property a lot more inviting than people realize.

These small habits will not always solve an active rodent issue, but they can help reduce the chances of rodents settling in around your home.

I shared more from a recent rodent prevention job here in the Greater Charlotte area in this month’s journal.

I start seeing more early rodent signs around homes in the Greater Charlotte area during July.

Most homeowners do not see a mouse or rat right away. It usually starts with something small — scratching at night, a few droppings in the garage, or stored items that look like they have been moved or chewed.

Those little signs are easy to brush off, but they usually mean something is going on.

A small gap around a garage door, utility line, or crawl space can be enough for rodents to get inside. Once they find food, shelter, or a quiet place to move around, the problem can grow pretty quickly.

I had a recent rodent prevention job that started with a few small clues just like that.

I wrote up the full job and how it worked out in this month’s journal entry.

I always appreciate when customers in the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area take the time to leave feedback after working with us.

Here’s a recent 5-star review from Manoj Kothuri, a Guardian Pest & Termite Services customer:
“Guardian does a great job in keeping our home pest free. David provides a great service and thoroughly checks every bit of the home and surroundings.”

Mosquito and general pest issues are usually easier to control when the full property is inspected carefully instead of only focusing on the obvious areas.

I’m glad we were able to help keep things under control for their home.

When mosquito problems keep coming back, I usually find there’s a breeding area nearby that hasn’t been addressed yet.

Here in the Greater Charlotte metropolitan area, my approach at Guardian Pest & Termite Services focuses on reducing mosquito activity at the source instead of only treating the areas where people are getting bitten.

That means inspecting the property for standing water, treating shaded resting areas around the yard, and identifying conditions that allow mosquito populations to keep rebuilding.

I also pay close attention to drainage issues, thick landscaping, and areas around patios or fences where mosquitoes tend to stay during the day.

Mosquito control works best when treatment and prevention are handled together instead of relying on temporary fixes.
