We’re extremely proud to announce that Sarah Writes Grants clients were among those awarded funds through Lilly Endowment’s Indiana Youth Programs on Campus initiative. Both University of Indianapolis and DePauw University received their grants, and our collaborative effort with Thomas P. Miller and Associates in support of Franklin College was funded as well!

This is great news for the landscape of higher ed in Indiana as colleges and universities welcome historically underrepresented K-12 students to their campuses for college and career exploration.

INDIANAPOLIS – Lilly Endowment Inc. is helping Indiana colleges and universities engage young people, ages 5 – 18, with high-quality campus programs that encourage them to explore their interests and envision a future for themselves in college.

New funding opportunity for organizations in Indianapolis: The City of Indianapolis and the Marion County Public Health Department, in partnership with Resolve to Save Lives, are inviting organizations serving minority communities to apply by April 30, 2021 to receive funding for projects that promote the wellness and recovery of racial and ethnic groups impacted by COVID-19. A total of $1 million will be awarded.

Examples of projects that can receive funding include education about COVID-19 and vaccines, wraparound services to help neighbors practice safety measures to protect one another from the virus, and outreach activities to share or gather information about community needs. A project that helps residents in their recovery from the pandemic may also receive funding. The average grant award will be $25,000, but mini-grants as low as $2,500 will also be available for smaller projects.

🎉 to Sarah Writes Grants! A year ago my business was born, and I couldn’t be more grateful to all of the clients I’ve had, the colleagues who have made referrals, and for the projects I’ve gotten to work on. Check out the blog link for a post I wrote about my first year in business: www.sarahwritesgrants.com/blog.

has always been a passion for me, but I never dreamed I’d own a business this soon in my career. is an incredible way to make an impact and a living, and I’m so lucky to have had so many people believe in my dream.

This blog post isn’t about grant writing tips, but I thought I’d reflect on what it was like to start a consulting business in 2020. I’m so thankful to everyone who believed in me and my work enough to send referrals my way. From former supervisors, new mentors, friends, book club connections, and other consultants who have been doing this longer than I have, I owe such gratitude to everyone who helped me launch Sarah Writes Grants this year. Watch for more to come on year two in 2021!

“Start Before You’re Ready” I used to have this quote as a background on my laptop and my phone. It’s also advice I’ve read in a number of books by self-help gurus. Today, I’m reflecting on my first year as a business owner. Starting before I was ready has gotten me so much further ...
