As the year wraps up STFPA takes a moment to look back at some of the accomplishments of our Agents:

•Investigator Nichols and Agent Needler received the apprehension assist award. This award is issued when an Agent's discovery, investigation, or action results in the arrest of a subject on property.

•Agent Chamberlain received the firearm recovery award. This award is issued when a firearm or any object resembling a firearm that is capable of firing a projectile is recovered.

The actions resulting in the distribution of these awards have contributed to making the properties we serve safer, prevented potential OWI type incidents, and have prevented property damage/theft.

In addition, our Agents have issued 432 trespasses since the inception of our trespass database and have initiated 52 investigation cases.

Special Task Force Protection Agency is currently accepting resumes for two open positions.

Special Task Force Protection Agency is now accepting applications/resumes for the position of Armed Security Agent. We currently have 3 full-time positions for Armed Agents and 1 part-time position that is more customer-service based (plain clothes, concealed carry).

Founded in 2000, STFPA is owned and operated by sworn Police Officers. More details about our Agency:
Special Task Force Protection Agency is a highly structured company that operates out of the Indianapolis area. There are 3 internal divisions:

Patrol
Investigations
On-Site

We take pride in being a pro-active law enforcement style security with a very structured format of operation.

Rank system: Agents who are promoted earn it at STFPA. A process is held for each position posted and the Agent that is the most qualified is promoted. This is a sharp contrast to many other organizations who promote based on friendships. Our ranks include Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, and Chief.

Multiple positions: STFPA has many different positions including Field Training Officer, Investigator, Lead Investigator, and others.

Training: A majority of companies will throw a new hire out in the field by themselves with no training. STFPA utilizes a field training program that covers a wide range of subjects including use of force, legal authority on properties, criminal psychology, ethics, vehicle approaches, building clearing, taser training, fi****ms, situational scenarios, radio traffic, report writing, community relations, law enforcement interactions, advance tactics, and many others.

We do not look at Agents as "warm bodies" here. You will not see our Agents trapped in a 3 by 5 foot guard shack. STFPA utilizes field training officers to assist in the growth and development of each Agent.

Awards: Agents are recognized for individual and team achievements. We distribute awards and plaques for accomplishments ranging from Agent of the year, The lifesaver award, and criminal trespass awards that contribute to keeping our properties safer.

Interested parties should have reliable transportation, a working smart phone for communication (we do distribute take-home radios), and be trainable.

Since we have implemented our trespass database a little over 2 years ago we have documented 359 trespasses on our properties.

The database has been a very effective method of documentation. Our proactive Agents have done a great job in this area which has contributed to the reduction of criminal activity.

We were alerted of a theft in progress at a plaza we patrol based on camera footage we have access to. Lieutenant Rowland masterfully deployed the drone and was able to locate the evading subject laying on the ground attempting to hide. Our team communicated with the assistance of the drone and Corporal Mulvaney located the subject. With the assistance of an outside law enforcement agency an arrest was made. The subject had a long criminal history which included copper theft and burglary.

Our Agents find many things during foot patrols of the properties we protect. We are proud to have a team of highly trained Agents who possess strong attention to detail. FTO Ramey has located multiple items of interest during his tenure here.

Recently our team had an interaction with a subject who was reported as suspicious on one our properties. It was found that he was on house arrest during our investigation. While getting more information from the subject (a prohibited possessor) a pistol resembling a G***k 17 was discovered on the floor board of the vehicle by one of our sworn leo agents Corporal Mulvaney. It was discovered that this was a G***k BB gun (Gen 3). Ironically, Corporal Mulvaney carries a Gen 3 G***k 17. Note the comparison between the two. The situation could have ended very badly but was handled very well by our Agents.

Over the last 2 months Special Task Force Protection Agency has been conducting a competition in which Agents could complete and earn an opportunity at a prize. Agents would receive raffle style "tickets" based on multiple factors and work performed in the field. When it was all settled and the top performers were entered into the drawing, Investigator Flaherty walked away with an AR-15 style rifle. Congratulations! We would also like to thank one of our brass (Lt. Rowland) for his donation of the rifle to help make this happen. Our Supervisors go above and beyond to create an atmosphere which provides rewards to those who deserve it.

A message from Chief Michael Anderson:

Nearly 3 years ago I took over the Operations Manager role at Special Task Force Protection Agency. My goal was never to imitate what other security companies were doing but to create an Agency that would stand apart from the others while using creativity, strong training programs, operating with integrity (not just talking about it), and working with transparency.

This has been a work in progress. Here are a few examples of what is implemented at our Agency that makes us stand apart:

•Field Training Program: Areas covered include legal authority on property, Use of force continuum, reasonable suspicion, radio traffic, documentation, fi****ms qualifications, pepper spray and Taser certification, street tactics, and other material. Our Supervisors also must attend a leadership course prior to receiving the badge.

•Internal divisions: We utilize dispatchers, a mobile patrol division, on-site division, and investigations division.

•Dispatch line: We field calls which include Suspicious Activity, noise complaints, standby for protection, request for trespass, shots fired, disturbances, open doors, homeless subjects on property, loitering, drug use on property, traffic issues on property, request for investigation, extra patrols, apartment watch, vacation watch, squatters, and other issues.

•Sworn Police Officers: Our Agency has some sworn officers. I conduct a mandatory "Off-Duty Police Course" that is required for every Agent who wears a police uniform while on-duty regardless if they have Tier 1 or Tier 2 ILEA certifications. Material includes terry stops, vehicle approaches, searches, amendments, probably cause and reasonable suspicion, off-duty paperwork, public relations, law enforcement interactions, Miranda rights, evidence collection, authority on property, and many others. Our Sworn Officers adhere to strict standards and must follow guidelines.

•Awards and Promotions: Processes are held in order to determine Supervisors. Scenario training and interviews are conducted. Awards include Agent of the year, Trespass awards, and integrity awards.

•Balance: Everyone that is employed here understands that there are many roles in public safety which includes at times helping and advocating for those that cannot help themselves. Operating with compassion and being in the field for the right reasons is a foundation of STFPA.

•Databases: We have an extensive database system which includes Trespasses (Over 200 verifiable documented trespasses including subject images, digital copies, property location, time, police assistance notification), FTO sign-offs, and Investigation database to name a few.

We label cases and investigate matters that are related to our properties except when specialized law enforcement units are involved. Many of our cases have been converted to packets and transferred to law enforcement detectives.

Our ultimate goal is the safety of our properties, to work collectively with the community, and to provide security professionals with the best opportunities by taking advantage of our culture.
