Memorial Day and The Indianapolis 500 is this weekend.

We are located just a few miles from the Speedway, which means this is either:
A) terrible timing👎
or
B) opportunity disguised as chaos😄✅

We’re choosing opportunity.đŸ˜ŽđŸ€™

Boutique de Junque will be open this Saturday for our regular Fourth Saturday opening from 11am–3pm.

If race weekend brings you to town — or if you simply want to experience vintage Americana, industrial archaeology, old letterpress printing equipment—and 230mph+ racing energy and related festivities — we’ll be here.

We are only a few miles from the track, so if you are approaching from the west, avoid driving directly through the town of Speedway. Otherwise, highway access in and out of town should be normal, and traffic near the Boutique itself will be unaffected. Fuel, fire, speed, noise
and somewhere nearby, a surprisingly quiet letterpress boutique, balancing the chaos. Come experience the balance!

FOUND!!! What the heck is this thing?? đŸ€”

In the perpetual “down-layering” this beautiful old “press” was discovered and I had to share it with you all. It’s a little mysterious
but once upon a time it was cutting-edge technology.

Pop quiz:: Do you know what this is/was used for?

No AI or Googling. Comment your guesses below. Everyone who guesses correctly AND shows up will receive 50% off all purchases of items that were recently increased in cost by 50%. (Yes, you read that right).

We’ll have it out for hands-on inspection this Saturday, April 25th at the Boutique de Junque and I promise—it’s even cooler in person.

It’s 4th Saturday at Boutique de Junque (we’re open every 2nd and 4th Saturday) from 11AM–3PM.

The temperature inside the warehouse is in the low 60s and Saturday’s high is 72F
 and sunny
.and a letterpress target-rich environment. Do I really need to keep selling, here? Geesh. In other words, you have no excuse to stay away.

Come hang out, say hi, and take your best guess at the mystery machine.

From “WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING HERE?” to
 this.

Back in 2019–2020 (yes, those years), this corner of the warehouse was a dark, chaotic pile of boards, boxes, and massive confusion. The kind of space you avoid unless curiosity is outweighing common sense.

Then came the makeover—one arcane, misfit item after another was cleared and the area lit to reveal a blank slate.

These cabinets are/were a massive collection of vintage type from a historic Terre Haute shop belonging to Clabber Girl Baking Powder, owned by the Hulman family—owners of the Indy 500 and the IRL—sold to Roger Penske, and their printing assets were sold to me.

And if you notice a few (or a lot of) empty drawers
that’s because they’ve been heading out the door ever since—finding new homes, one printer at a time. (You know who you are).

Boutique de Junque opens this second Saturday, April 11th. 11 AM – 3 PM

Weather’s looking sunny in the low 60’s. Come wander through, dig around, and find some letterpress Easter eggs. 🐣(see what I did there)? Hope to see you Saturday!

A generous wind gave us a rebrand and we (think) we’re into it
.TBD. Simple mural ideas are being considered. Float yours if you dare. Goodbye siding 👋 hello history..
1940 (or before) provenance REVEALED.

Turns out our building has been screaming “VISITORS WELCOME — CUT RATE BARGAIN STORE” from underneath the siding this whole time. The wind just finally revealed it as low key fire (Gen A translations available for free upon request).
So come visit.

TYPE, ORNAMENTS, & CUTS
 OH MY!

The boutique doors are open again this weekend for Second Saturday — March 14th, 11 am–3 pm.

One highlight: drawer after drawer of typecast ornaments displayed in quarter cases. The type has that bright, silvery look because my father, David Churchman, spent many hours cleaning pieces he acquired from shops all over. The result is that nearly every drawer has the same fresh shine. (I regularly had to interrupt Dad’s cleaning to call him for dinner.)

And there are a lot of drawers — well over 1,000 quarter cases packed shoulder-to-shoulder with ornaments to discover. (Yes, really).

Also out in the shop:

Beautiful Copper Electrotype Cuts (Cobb-Shinn and others)

Very Cool — And Genuinely Rare — Typefaces Like 34œ Point Delis (pictured)

Rare Cast-Iron Case Pulls (Some Pictured)

There’s a great del more interesting and rare material tucked around the shop, and I’m installing even more lighting this week so you can actually see what you’re digging through.

Come rummage — the weather’s improving and the drawers are full.

The Boutique de Junque will be open this Saturday, February 27th from 11 am - 3 pm in Indianapolis. It’s gonna be flirting with 60° and sunny and that’s not winter! (That’s a hint)

Come find something weird you absolutely don’t need but will 100% buy anyway!

Hope to see you Saturday! Don’t overthink it.

My AI-generated photo from my last post is getting mixed reviews! So here’s the real deal – one of the very first things I ever printed, learning at my father’s side. The “Andy” is a little curious since Dad was rabid about people calling me “Andrew,” not “Andy” (ahem
present company included, you know who you are!).
This Valentine was printed on a C & P Pilot OS (which I still have) in the basement of my childhood home, right next to Dad’s print shop. There’s nothing quite like the smell of ink, the clack of the press, and learning a craft handed down from father to son.
Some things AI just can’t replicate.

Boutique de Junque opens this Saturday 2/14 💘 from 11 am to 3 pm.
(2nd & 4th Saturdays only — we’re exclusive like that.). Spend this Valentine’s Day the right way, surrounded by ink, cast iron, and my iffy life-choices. It’s going to be a “shorts-weather” 51 degrees!!! Bring your Valentine. Or break up with them and buy yourself something way, way cooler. Hope to see you there! xoxo đŸ«€đŸ«€.
