Brown County Pride was a huge success!! So very proud of everyone who worked so hard to make this happen - what a phenomenal FIRST Pride!

I am so honored to have been able to cover the drag shows at Brown County Inn in the evening... SO MUCH FUN, Y'ALL!

I have so, so many more fun shots to come... Can't wait to share them all!

Listen, I have a VERY distinctive style...but that doesn't mean I'm not up for a good challenge! My clients mentioned during our session LAST year that they wanted to do something Wes Anderson-esque this year. We got them on the calendar and did some planning ahead. True to their word, they showed up looking like they just came walking off of a Wes Anderson film set, complete with props that are unique and special to each person's interests and hobbies. Mama worked SO hard at putting everything together and we ALL worked hard at making the vision become a reality.

So...it never hurts to ask your favorite photographer to do something a little outside the box from their usual creative style. 😉 Stuff like this brings many of us absolutely TO LIFE.

Are you a lush green, summer-loving woodland fairy? Yeah? Me, too. The greens make me feel ALIVE, even if the heat and humidity makes me feel like I’m dying a slow and tortured death. ;)

If you’re a Class of 2027 Senior who’s envisioning lush greens for your session, you only have a few short weeks left to make that happen. July and early August are booked up but there are still 2 available weekend dates and a handful of weekdays available the last half of August.

Straying from my normal content for a minute to share some work that I dug up from baby photographer Michelle in 2003 and wax poetic for a moment.

I've been talking a lot lately to younger photographers about finding and following their passion in what they do. Find the thing that sets your soul on fire and it will show you the way.

For me, it was adventure sports. I hated photographing people in my early 20s,if you could even imagine. But one day, the marketing director for an adventure race company sat at my bar. In chatting, he recognized that I was both a young adventurer *and* photographer in a Midwestern city where that was pretty uncommon. He offered me a paid gig to cover their race and that was quite literally the turning point in my photography journey, and the beginning of my career. I realized I DID love photographing humans, it just needed to happen OUTSIDE of a studio.

For the years to follow I ended up traveling the country, photographing adventure races from NYC to Tahoe, and everywhere between. This time period gave me the confidence to set out and travel all lower 48 for 7 years as a solo mama, to do it all again, just a little differently.

Finding how to tie together everything that brings me joy was truly a *right place, right time* situation 25 years ago. Honestly? I call it fate. Older Michelle is so grateful for all of the ways the stars aligned for baby Michelle back in the day and she can't wait to see what the future brings for old Michelle and her art. 😊

Peak fall is closer than you think. 🍂

It might just now feel like summer, but my fall calendar fills up about as quickly as the leaves drop!

This year I’m adding Nashville, Indiana to my list of included session locations, and I’d love to meet you in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana this fall.
