Legacy and Estate Life Planning
Unfortunately, I have been hearing of a lot of deaths and attending funerals. Not my favorite event to participate. Some of these crises are without warning.
I have been preaching to the choir about organizing your “legacy and life estate planning document” organizing together for several years.
ARE YOU PREPARED FOR A LOSS OF A LOVED ONE?
We are never ready for a loss EMOTIONIALLY, BUT preparation IS THE KEY.
What do I mean:
Putting all documents together in a hard copy and digital format to include:
1. An update will/trust and everything legal with attorney name and phone number. Assigned POA or guardian, or adult child(ren) and provide them with the necessary information of your wishes.
2. Financial – where and what are your investments, account numbers, accountant, name of bank(s) to include checking and savings acct. numbers and location. Do you have the finanical resources to use for health care treatments, care givers, and medications. Who is the financial advisor’s name, phone and e-mail.
3. All insurance policies – homeowners, auto, property, pet insurance, health and medical insurance. Names of companies, agents, phone numbers and e-mails. If on Medicare or Medicaid how many days will policy cover rehab, hospital stays, physical therapy and the cost for private pay care. Long term insurance when does it activate (name of company acct. numbers and agent).
4. Medical – who are your primary care physicals? Names and phone mi. numbers. What medication are you taking currently? Have you designated a POA for medical circumstances? Preferences on hospitals and care.
5. 5. Technology- This is the hard one – Those passwords to every accounts. As a POA or adult children do you even have permission to access a family member account??
6. 6. Personal – In an emergency or crisis who is to be contacted? Where is that information? Name, phone number, e-mail, and relationship.
This is just a short list, but I hope it is a wake-up call to put the information together.
Key take aways: Don’t be stuck in the overwhelming crisis position to figure it out later - when it is a crisis NOW. Plan TODAY. Complete Relocation Solutions can help.

TRUE STORY: From Clutter to Clarity, A Couple’s 38-Year Journey to Downsizing

I recently had the pleasure of working with a wonderful couple for over two and a half months as they prepared to move from their home of 38 years. Their house was filled with memories, but also decades of accumulated belongings. Like many busy professionals, they had never taken the time to declutter.

Together, we went through each room meticulously, deciding what to keep, donate, or discard. I arranged for window cleaners, a hauling company to remove excess furniture and items from the basement and shed, and even scheduled a professional shredding service. In total, we shredded 40 bags of documents, all carefully stored in pink trash bags to avoid confusion with other disposals.

One of the most meaningful parts of this process was helping them organize their family archives. The husband took on the task of scanning genealogy records to ensure no paper files followed them to their new retirement community. Meanwhile, the wife and I sorted through decades of family photos, categorizing them by dates and events with labeled index cards for easy digital conversion. This way, future generations can scroll through a neatly organized thumb drive instead of sorting through scattered albums and boxes.

The Takeaway:
This transition wasn’t just about moving—it was about honoring a lifetime of memories while preparing for a fresh start. Downsizing can feel overwhelming, but with the right approach, it be

🏡 The Pros & Cons of Aging in Place: Is It the Right Choice For You?

Aging in place—staying in your home as you get older—can be a wonderful option for many seniors. But while it offers familiarity and independence, it also comes with challenges that can impact safety, health, and quality of life.

Pros of Aging in Place:
✔️ Staying in a familiar home – Comfort, memories, and surroundings you know well.
✔️ Independence – Freedom to maintain your own routine and lifestyle.
✔️ Lower cost (in some cases) – No monthly senior community fees, if the home is paid off.
✔️ Personalized space – No need to adjust to new surroundings or shared spaces.
✔️ Emotional security – Many seniors feel a sense of control and comfort in their own homes.

Cons of Aging in Place:
❌ Increased loneliness – Limited daily interaction with others can lead to isolation.
❌ Less physical activity – Without structured activities or a fitness routine, staying active can be a challenge.
❌ Home maintenance challenges – Yard work, household upkeep, and repairs become harder over time.
❌ Safety concerns – Falls, medication management, and emergency response can be harder to handle alone.
❌ Nutrition & meal prep – Without regular meal support, healthy eating can decline.

For many older adult, the best approach is planning ahead—whether that means modifying a home for safety, increasing social engagement, or considering a transition to a senior living community. There is no one-size-fits-all solution—only the right choice for your needs.

Have you ever started decluttering, only to feel completely drained before making it past the first drawer? Decision fatigue is real—it happens when we’re faced with too many choices, making it harder to move forward.

Sorting through years (or decades!) of belongings can feel emotionally and mentally exhausting, especially when every item sparks a memory or a "what if" moment. But don’t let that stop you! Instead, try these four practical ways to keep moving:

4 Ways to Declutter Without Overwhelm:
1️⃣ Create Simple Guidelines – Ask yourself: Do I use this regularly? Would I buy it again today? If I lost it, would I replace it? Having clear rules makes decisions faster and easier.
2️⃣ Use a ‘Later’ Bin – Stuck on an item? Set it aside and revisit it in a week with fresh eyes. Many people realize they don’t need it after a little distance.
3️⃣ Keep the Memory, Not the Clutter – If an object holds sentimental value but doesn’t serve a purpose, take a photo instead. Memories live in our hearts—not in overflowing boxes.
4️⃣ Focus on the End Goal – Imagine a home that feels lighter, more organized, and stress-free. Picture your space the way you want it to be, and let that vision guide your decisions.

Remember, decluttering isn’t about losing things—it’s about creating space for what matters most. Take it one step at a time, and don’t be afraid to ask for help!

Every day since 2012, 10,000 Baby Boomers turn 65.
That number isn’t just a statistic—it’s a signal.

Aging is changing, and so are the realities of how we care for one another.

Today, more adult children are supporting aging parents while still raising kids or working full-time. It’s an exhausting balance, often with very little warning when a big change is needed.

And then it happens. A parent can no longer manage the stairs. The house is too much. The doctor recommends a safer setup. Suddenly, the conversation shifts:

“It’s time to move.”

But moving after decades in the same home is not just a checklist of tasks. It’s an emotional unraveling. A process that stirs up memories, family history, grief, and stress.

At Complete Relocation Solutions, we’ve been through this with countless families. With over 16 years of experience in senior move management, we’ve learned that the hardest part of any transition is rarely the boxes. It’s the letting go and the unknowns ahead.

We’re here to make it easier.

We work with families to create a plan that’s clear and compassionate. We help sort, organize, and decide what stays, what goes, and what comes next. We take care of the logistics, but more importantly, we take care of the people.

For older adults, this kind of transition can be overwhelming, both emotionally and physically. And for their children, it’s often a moment of deep responsibility and uncertainty.

But with the right support, this season doesn’t have to feel chaotic or lonely. It can feel honored, supported, and thoughtfully done.

📖 TRUE STORY: Small Acts of Kindness During Life’s Toughest Transitions
We were helping a couple relocate from Indianapolis to Boston. The wife was in hospice care, battling a severe respiratory illness, and the family was holding on to hope that she could make the journey.

One morning, as we arrived to pack, the husband mentioned, “She doesn’t have anything to wear to sleep.”
I asked the wife, “Do you prefer pajamas or nightgowns?”
“Nightgowns,” she said.
“Give me 45 minutes,” I told them both, and off I went.

I drove to the nearest Kohl’s, picked out two cozy nightgowns and a couple of pajama sets, and rushed back. The husband didn’t drive, so it was one of those little things we could do to help make their difficult transition just a bit easier.

✨ The Takeaway?
At Complete Relocation Solutions, our job is about more than just moving furniture—it’s about showing compassion, empathy, and support when families need it most. Whether it’s downsizing, relocating, or just offering a helping hand, we’re here to make transitions easier in every way we can.

The cabinet under the kitchen sink is one of the most overlooked and cluttered areas in any home. It’s a black hole for cleaning supplies, plastic bags, and mystery bottles—but with a few simple tweaks, you can turn it into an organized, functional space!

How to Declutter & Organize Under the Sink:
✔️ Pull Everything Out – Toss expired products, consolidate duplicates, and get rid of anything you don’t use.
✔️ Use Clear Bins or Lazy Susans – Store similar items together (sponges, dish soap, cleaning sprays) in labeled containers for easy access.
✔️ Hang Spray Bottles – A tension rod across the cabinet lets you hang bottles by their trigger and free up shelf space!
✔️ Contain the Chaos – Store plastic bags in a dispenser or repurpose a tissue box to prevent them from taking over.
✔️ Protect the Bottom – A waterproof mat or liner catches leaks and makes cleanup easy.

🌟 Bonus Tip: If you rarely use a cleaner, move it to a backup storage area—keep only everyday essentials under the sink!

🚪 An organized space saves time, reduces frustration, and makes everyday tasks easier. Need help decluttering your home? We’re here for you!
