THE RESIDENCY GAP: WHAT THE JUDGE NOTED
Indiana law says a constable must have lived in the township for more than one year when taking office (IC 3-8-1-31).
Kenneth Allen was sworn in as Center Township Constable on November 8, 2024.
In my lawsuit, Judge John M.T. Chavis II noted a gap in Allen’s evidence of Center Township residency from about April 2023 through November 2025. WFYI reported that this period includes the day he took office.
Allen told the court he had no lease for that time, was living month-to-month in the same building, and pointed to his voter registration and other records. The judge denied my request to remove him from office while the case continues. The case is not over.
That is why I went to court. Residency rules apply to everyone, and the people of Center Township should know whether the person serving them meets the law. My appeal is pending, and I will keep fighting for a free and clear election.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Choose your party picks for every other race, then pick MELVIN (MAJOR) HALL II, Independent, for Center Township Constable.
