The Marketing Automation Grift Is Boring As Hell

Every time I scroll, there’s another “AI marketing platform” with a different logo, same recycled feature set, and the same hollow pitch.

Buy our service. We’ll use ChatGPT (but don’t call it that). We’ll schedule your posts. We’ll call it “automation.”
You know what you’re actually buying? Someone’s subscription to Claude or GPT wrapped in a UI, marked up 400%, and sold back to you as innovation.

What’s different between them? Nothing. Literally nothing. You’re still paying for mediocre content on a schedule.

And here’s what kills me nobody is solving the actual problem.
No one walks in and says: “I built a system that crawls your CRM, finds every data discrepancy costing you money, and hands you a blueprint to fix it.”

No one does that because it’s hard.

Here’s The Reality

Marketing got worse, not better.
It split into two camps: people who are actually good at it (rare, respected, niche-level rare), and people using ChatGPT as a crutch because they have no skill. That’s it. No middle ground.

I found that number last month running a shadow audit for a precision sheet-metal fabricator using HubSpot.

They had 38 deals that went silent after quotes no automated re-engage, no task nudges, and their pipeline stage rules never flagged ‘staled’ opportunities.
