We're proud to share the launch of Praedicare — the new magazine for the Dominican Friars of the Province of Saint Joseph.

The name means “to preach.” But this magazine isn’t simply about sermons — it’s a window into the life of the Dominican Vocation. Their life of study, service, and sacrifice in classrooms, campus ministries, hospitals, pulpits, and digital spaces — all rooted in a singular mission: to proclaim the truth with clarity and charity.

For over 800 years, the Dominican Order has helped the Church see more clearly. Praedicare continues that legacy — not by reinventing it, but by revealing it in a form that invites others into the story.

Ever wondered why the Super Bowl uses Roman numerals in its official logo?

Apparently, it was started in 1971 to avoid any confusion with the calendar year. Since the Super Bowl is played in the calendar year after the regular season, owners feared it would confuse the public. For example, the team that wins the 2024 season will be crowned in a game taking place in February 2025.

To eliminate ambiguity, the NFL went with none other than current Super Bowl contender KC Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt's recommendation to use Roman numerals instead of the calendar year.

“This would further establish the tie to the past and also, in my opinion, add a bit of ‘class’ to our ‘unclassy’ name,” Hunt wrote.

Before that, the first four championships were simply called Super Bowl 1, 2, 3, and 4. The numerals I through IV were added retroactively (as seen in the logos pictured here).

The World Series logo has evolved significantly since its inception in 1903. Initially, there was no official logo; the championship was simply referred to as the "World's Championship Series." As baseball grew more popular, so did the need for branding.

Key Elements of the Designs:
1. Typography: The font styles have varied from classic to modern, often emphasizing strength and tradition.
2. Graphics: Baseball motifs, such as bats, gloves, and balls, have been common elements.
3. Colors: The logos reflect the teams playing, often using their colors in the design.
