It is gorgeous outside - plenty of sunshine!
Having a page is so different from having a group. I had a group called: 'Single for the Second Time'. It was for anyone having a loss by death or divorce. It quickly became a group for widows and widowers. I kept it for about 18 months until there were no new members. With a group, I had to make sure that posts were proper (no vulgar language, not hitting on widows for dates, that all new members were real people, etc), but there was a benefit - anyone could post and receive comments - plenty of interaction.
With a page, I am the only one posting. There is no interaction. I wanted this page to reach out to Seniors, their families and friends. So, I have an idea. Once a week, I will post for your input of discussion topics. I will post to let you know that is the day and you can share in a comment, what you would like discussed.
Yes, I know the first comment will be: 'just have a group.' I have considered that, but this is now an established page and I do want to talk about my service-a sort of ad page without paying for ads.
If I were a web designer, I would put ads out that way. I don't have that skill - I have seen and heard that there are some free sites-checking into those. The other issue is my service name. When Lucinda Sperry helped me with the set up of this page, we found there were others with the title of Visiting Grandma. That is why my name was added. What I need to do is to get the word out to families who are moving a Senior member into the area and need my services. If you have new neighbors who ask about what services are available, would you please give them my name? I, also, have business cards and copies of the article from the Indianola Independent Advocate if you would want to share in that way.
I realize that a new business takes about 2 years to be in full swing, but word of mouth is the best way for that to happen. A business owner and friend, in Norwalk, keeps my card where people can see it and this has given me a new client.
