They survived…
but survival does not mean the pain is over.
In Shreveport, Louisiana, two mothers are now lying in hospital beds, trying to survive a nightmare that changed their lives forever. One of them is Shaneiqua Pugh. The other is Christina Snow. Both women survived the shooting, but both are now carrying wounds that go far beyond what anyone can see. ([New York Post][1])
They made it out alive.
But not without scars.
Not without trauma that will never fully leave them.
Not without the heartbreak of knowing the children they loved so deeply are gone.
In the middle of the chaos, people were so desperate to survive that a child jumped from the roof to escape. Another woman and her daughter were injured trying to flee from the rooftop as gunfire tore through the house. That is how terrifying this tragedy was. ([New York Post][1])
Now the sirens are gone.
The gunshots have faded.
But the silence that follows is heavy.
Families are sitting in waiting rooms.
Loved ones are holding hands a little tighter.
A whole community is trying to understand how something so horrific could happen.
These mothers are still here.
Still breathing.
Still fighting.
And right now, that matters more than anything.
Because healing will take time.
Strength will be tested.
And hope is all they have to hold onto.
So tonight, let us not forget them.
Let us pray for their recovery.
Let us pray for their hearts.
Let us pray for the families carrying unimaginable grief.
And let us never forget the eight innocent children whose lives were taken far too soon in this tragedy. ([The Guardian][2])
