✨ Counseling is not about fixing people—it’s about helping them reconnect with the strength, wisdom, and resilience that already exists within them.

As counselors, coaches, advocates, and helpers, we don't have to carry all the answers. Sometimes the most powerful intervention is simply being fully present, listening without judgment, and creating a space where healing can begin.

Your presence matters. Your empathy matters. Your ability to sit with someone in their hardest moments matters.

🌱 Healing often starts when someone finally feels seen, heard, and safe.

Today I had the honor of facilitating a leadership training with representatives from multiple agencies across the State of Alabama. We spent time exploring what it truly means to lead with intention, develop future leaders, strengthen workplace morale, and understand how ineffective leadership can impact staff retention, team culture, and organizational growth.

What made this experience especially meaningful was the level of engagement, honesty, and collaboration in the room. The conversations were powerful, reflective, and centered around becoming healthier, more effective leaders for the people we serve every day.

I truly enjoyed the opportunity to connect, learn, and grow alongside so many dedicated professionals. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to such an impactful experience. Leadership matters — and investing in people always makes a difference.

I was honored to facilitate the Virtual Leadership Seminar for Alabama Department of Mental Health Central Office and Regional Office Supervisors in partnership with TELUS Health.

We explored practical leadership strategies around:

• Construction of a Great Leader
• Leading a Modern Workforce
• Turning Conflict into Collaboration

Strong organizations are built by leaders who can communicate, adapt, and develop others. I enjoyed engaging supervisors in meaningful conversation around leadership that strengthens culture, retention, and impact.

Whew… this one touched my heart.

I used to work at the Space and Rocket Center as a student at Alabama A&M, and today I came back to facilitate training for state employees. Same grounds. Different assignment. Greater purpose.

God will let you revisit places from your past to show you just how much you’ve grown. 🚀

Before the headlines, before the confirmation of her death, there was a wellness check. Shirley Raines known to many for her compassion, her service to the unhoused, and her tireless heart for others was found unresponsive during that check, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The details add another layer of sorrow to a loss that already felt heavy. Shirley spent so much of her life looking out for others, feeding people who were hungry, showing dignity to those the world often overlooks. And in her final moments, it was a concern for her well-being that brought help to her door too late.

Her death has left many grappling with a painful truth: those who give the most are often the ones who carry their struggles quietly. Shirley was a light to countless people, yet like so many caregivers and helpers, she may have been hurting in ways unseen.

As tributes continue to pour in, her story is prompting reflection on mental health, on burnout, and on how important it is to check in on the people we assume are always “strong.”

Shirley Raines mattered. Her life mattered. And the compassion she showed the world will not be forgotten.

✨️🦋 12 Processing Questions to Ask Yourself Before Entering 2026 🦋✨️

1. What am I still carrying that no longer belongs in my next season? (Name it without judgment.)

2. Where did I abandon my own needs this year—and why?

3. What emotions did I avoid feeling, and what was I protecting myself from?

4. What boundaries did I learn I must keep—even when it feels uncomfortable?

5. Who or what brought me peace—and who disrupted it? (Notice the pattern.)

6. What part of me healed quietly this year, even if no one noticed?

7. What did grief teach me about love, loss, or myself?
(This includes endings, not just death.)

8. Where did I grow emotionally, even though it was painful?

9. What coping habits helped me—and which ones I’m ready to release?

10. What does my nervous system need more of in 2026? (Rest, structure, joy, safety, movement, stillness.)

11. What am I forgiving myself for as I close this year?

12. What intention do I want to carry forward—not to fix myself, but to care for myself?
