That’s a wrap on SmallSat 2026! 🛰️

It was a great week in Utah connecting with customers, friends, and innovators from across the space industry at the 40th Small Satellite Conference.

From showcasing our latest star tracker technology and interactive augmented reality experience to talking about the missions and challenges shaping the future of space, our booth was filled with great people and new connections throughout the week.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to meet the Terran Orbital team, explore our technologies, and share what you’re working on. We’re heading home excited about what comes next.

Intern Spotlight: Kendall VanDenburgh
🎓 The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine , Aerospace Engineering

Kendall joined us this summer as a Systems Integration & Test Engineering Intern. Her interest in aerospace began in 3rd grade when she and her friends started imagining and designing rockets after learning about the planets. That early spark turned into a lasting passion for space and engineering.

This summer, she has been tackling a wide array of projects focusing on helping her team stay agile as they move from early-stage builds to testing fully integrated spacecraft buses.

After graduation, she hopes to continue working in aerospace, especially with satellites or launch vehicles. She wants her work to help advance space exploration and support major missions that push the frontier forward such as NASA's Artemis missions.

NASA’s CAPSTONE 02 mission has successfully completed Critical Design Review, marking a major milestone as the program moves into the next phase of development, integration, and testing.

Terran Orbital is proud to support the mission alongside , Advanced Space, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and Space Dynamics Laboratory. Together, the team is advancing technologies that will demonstrate rendezvous and proximity operations, autonomous navigation, cislunar communications, and other capabilities critical to the future of lunar exploration.

Building on the success of the original CAPSTONE mission, CAPSTONE 02 continues Terran Orbital’s legacy of delivering spacecraft for increasingly complex missions beyond Earth orbit.

We were proud to join Working Wardrobes ’ inaugural Valor & Vision: The Orange County Veterans Leadership Breakfast, celebrating the veterans who continue to lead, serve and make an impact in our workplaces and communities.

Terran Orbital was honored to sponsor the Veteran of the Year Award and to have several of our own veterans representing our team at the event. Our President & CEO, Peter Krauss, also had the privilege of leading attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance to open the morning.

Working Wardrobes has been making a difference in Orange County for more than 35 years, helping people overcome barriers to meaningful employment through career coaching, workforce development, professional wardrobing and other resources that build confidence and long-term stability.

As an Orange County company, we believe our impact should extend beyond the spacecraft we build. Supporting organizations like Working Wardrobes, investing in our community and recognizing those who have served are all part of how we contribute to the place we call home.

Intern Spotlight: Joshua Ikehara
🎓 Harvey Mudd College , BS Electrical Engineering

Joshua joined our Electrical Power Systems group this summer as an Electrical Engineering Test Intern. Joshua's interest in aerospace comes from his passion for technically challenging projects and systems where small components can shape mission success. Through research and his Terran Orbital internship, he has become especially interested in spacecraft electrical devices like power and control systems.

After graduation, Joshua hopes to work on spacecraft or other advanced systems where he can be hands-on with both hardware and software. He enjoys understanding how physical systems behave and then building the tools or code needed to test and improve them, ideally in an environment with strong interdisciplinary collaboration.

Joshua wants his work to support missions that expand our understanding of Earth and the universe. Deep-space exploration particularly excites him because it pushes the limits of technology and requires reliable autonomous operation far from Earth.

This summer, he has worked to make spacecraft systems easier to test and validate by combining hardware, software, automation, and data analysis. He has worked to deepen his hands-on experience with electrical systems, strengthen his debugging skills, and better understand how software interacts with real spacecraft hardware.

Intern Spotlight: Kyler Bock
🎓 SDSU College of Engineering , BS Mechanical Engineering, BA Physics

Kyler joins Terran Orbital this summer as a Manufacturing Test Engineering Intern on our Production team. Kyler has had a lifelong fascination with space and as a kid, he was captivated by black holes and dreamed of becoming an astronaut. Once he chose engineering, the aerospace industry felt like the natural path, fueled by the same curiosity that first drew him to the stars.

This summer, Kyler wants to tackle more test automation and work on designing new tests. He is also hoping to grow his skills in end to end design, applying the theory he learned in school and seeing how it holds up in real-world, non-ideal conditions.

After graduation, Kyler hopes to work in a fast-paced environment where he has the opportunity to constantly learn and build. He is interested in test engineering and mechanical design, and loves the process of creating something and figuring out how to make it work. He wants the things he works on to fly in space and hopes his contributions will directly benefit his country and community. Ideally, Kyler would work on missions that map the outer solar system with the same detail we have for Earth. His dream would be to serve as an engineer stationed on the Moon or even one of Jupiter’s moons.

We can't wait to see what amazing work Kyler will achieve after graduation and are proud to have him on the team for the summer.
