As we continue to recognize Longevity Month, we’re focusing on one of the most consequential and yet under recognized challenges of aging: sarcopenia the progressive loss of muscle mass, strength and function that occurs as we grow older.

Sarcopenia can affect far more than muscle. Declining strength and mobility can make everyday activities more difficult, increase vulnerability to falls and disability, and ultimately threaten independence and quality of life as we age.
Yet despite the growing population of older adults and the enormous unmet need, there are currently no FDA-approved medicines specifically for sarcopenia.

At Immunis, we believe this represents an opportunity to change what we accept as an inevitable part of aging. Our lead investigational therapy, IMM01-STEM, is being developed to target multiple biological pathways involved in muscle health and regeneration, with the goal of restoring function not simply slowing its decline.

Because the future of longevity shouldn't be measured only by the number of years we live.

What comes after the exit? And how should biotech leaders define success along the way?

At last month’s LSX Congress in Boston, Immunis Chief Business Officer, Mark Cabato, CFA joined an accomplished panel of industry leaders for “Beyond the Exit: Should Product Launch Be Your Ultimate Goal?”

The discussion brought together perspectives spanning biotech innovation, corporate strategy, capital markets and company building to explore how the industry balances near-term financial milestones with the long-term goal of bringing meaningful therapies to patients.

"Having been in the biotech industry for less than 4 years, I leaned on my global pharma banking experience and approached the discussion from a strategic finance and banker's perspective, which was well-received by the moderator and panel," says Mark.

Our thanks to LSX for convening such a thoughtful discussion and to fellow panelists, Raj Reddy of Canary Cure Therapeutics, Helen Ho of Parablis Medicines and Albert J Robichaud of Tortugas Neuroscience for sharing their insights.

What changes when a biologic is designed to deliver not one active component, but many?

That question is particularly relevant to Immunis, where our multi-active biologics represent a differentiated approach to addressing complex, age-related conditions by harnessing multiple naturally occurring factors with the potential to act across interconnected biological pathways.

This month, Immunis Chairman Dr. Hans Keirstead will bring that perspective to Fierce Pharma PODD 2026 in Boston during the panel, “Formulation Approaches to Reduce Patient Burden for Peptides and Biologics.”

Moderated by Dr. Stephen Buckley, Scientific Vice President of Drug Delivery at Novo Nordisk, the discussion will explore how advances in formulation can reduce patient burden while expanding what is possible with increasingly sophisticated biologic therapies.

For Immunis, that conversation takes on another dimension. Multi-active biologics challenge the conventional one-drug, one-target paradigm, creating opportunities to address human health more comprehensively and making formulation and delivery important considerations in preserving and realizing the potential of multiple active components.

Hans will join fellow panelists:
• Dr. Chris Wahl, Halozyme, Inc.
• Dr. Quanying B., Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
• Dr. Thomas von Erlach, Vivtex
October 30, 2:50–3:20 p.m.
PODD 2026, Boston, MA

We look forward to contributing a multi-active perspective to the conversation about the future of biologics and drug delivery.

What if the goal of longevity isn’t simply to live longer — but to stay healthier for longer? 🤔

That question will be at the center of the conversation at BioFuture 2026, where Immunis Chairman, Dr. Hans Keirstead, will join fellow biotech leaders for the panel “Immunity & Healthspan Unleashed: The Chronic Inflammation Connection.”

The discussion will explore the intersection of immunology, chronic inflammation and aging, and the emerging science aimed at extending healthspan — the years we spend living in good health.

It’s a conversation closely aligned with our work at Immunis, where we’re developing regenerative, multi-active biologics designed to address age-related decline and help preserve the strength and function that are fundamental to healthy aging.

Living longer is only part of the goal.

The greater opportunity is helping people live those years with strength, mobility and independence.

October marks Longevity Month, a global initiative dedicated to advancing the science of healthy aging and supporting research into the biological processes that influence how we age.

At Immunis, that mission closely reflects our own. We believe aging should not automatically mean accepting the progressive loss of muscle, function and quality of life. Our work is focused on developing multi-active biologics designed to address the interconnected biology of aging and support the body's natural regenerative processes.

As longevity science continues to evolve, so does the possibility of changing the way we think about aging from simply extending lifespan to preserving healthspan: the years we can remain healthy, active and independent.

This Longevity Month, we celebrate the researchers, clinicians, innovators and advocates working toward that future, and we reaffirm our commitment to developing therapies with the potential to help people live better for longer.

One question at stayed with us long after the session ended: Why don’t we talk about sarcopenia the way we talk about other age-related conditions?

It’s an increasingly relevant question both with an aging population and as the use of weight-loss therapies grows. How do we make sure that muscle health and the consequences of lean mass loss remain part of the conversation?

Sarcopenia is more than an aesthetic or lifestyle concern. Progressive loss of muscle mass and function can affect mobility, resilience, and the ability to remain independent with age. And the need for greater awareness and therapeutic innovation specifically focused on muscle health is significant.

At Immunis, we believe muscle deserves a much more prominent place in the conversation about healthy aging. That means advancing the science, and it also means helping patients, clinicians, investors, and the broader healthcare community understand why preserving muscle function matters.

Healthy aging isn’t only about living longer. It’s about preserving the strength and function to have the best quality of life! 💪💪💪💪💪💪

We left Fierce encouraged by the questions being asked and motivated by the conversations still ahead. Immunis will continue to spark the conversation around muscle health and support awareness of sarcopenia and its impact on healthy aging.

A message from our Sr. Scientific Communications Manager, Dr. Karissa Munoz, after her presentation at Fierce Pharma Week in Philly.

"My first Fierce Pharma Week exceeded every expectation.

From hands-on workshops and packed presentations to an exhibitor hall that felt like a hive of innovation and activity, there was an unmistakable energy throughout the week. New ideas being tested, partnerships taking shape, and lively conversations striking up in every corner. 😃

I was especially proud to represent Immunis, Inc. onstage and share how we’ve worked to build a differentiated story in the increasingly crowded healthy aging and longevity space. Presenting to a room of seasoned industry professionals, and hearing their candid questions and feedback, was both validating and incredibly valuable.

One of my biggest takeaways as a communicator: you learn a lot about your own story when you tell it to new people.

The conversations helped reinforce what is resonating, surface questions we need to keep answering, and sharpen how we communicate the importance of muscle health and the science we’re advancing at Immunis.

I headed home with new connections, new ideas and plenty to bring back to our team.

Thank you to everyone who shared a conversation, question or perspective with me. And to Fierce Pharma Week for creating such an engaging forum!

Safe to say, I’m already looking forward to next year."
