📋 Visa Bulletin Update: October 2026 Is Out

The U.S. Department of State has released the October 2026 Visa Bulletin, and both EB-3 categories retrogressed worldwide this month — on both the Final Action Dates and Dates for Filing charts.

The good news — filing stays open:

For October, USCIS has confirmed it will accept adjustment of status (Form I-485) filings using the more advanced Dates for Filing chart: August 1, 2024 for EB-3 (Skilled) and June 1, 2022 for EB-3 (Other Workers). If your priority date falls before these dates, you can still move forward with filing even though final approval follows the Final Action Date.

Why did this happen? Retrogression isn't about any individual case — it reflects the State Department managing worldwide demand against fixed annual and quarterly visa limits. Dates move in both directions from month to month, and this is a normal part of the process.

📋 Consular Processing Update: Visa Interviews Resuming Worldwide

U.S. consular posts have begun rescheduling and resuming visa interviews after worldwide disruptions and temporary pauses in late August 2026 — but the exact timeline depends on your embassy or consulate and your visa category.

Where things stand:

— Nonimmigrant visas (tourist, student, work): processing generally stayed active throughout, though appointment wait times still vary by post. — Immigrant visas: following widespread cancellations in late August, individual posts began issuing new interview dates in early September. — There is no single universal restart date — each post is restoring its calendar according to its own capacity.

If you're waiting on an interview:

Check your email and appointment portal — embassies are contacting affected applicants directly with replacement dates. Don't cancel or change your existing record unless the embassy or NVC explicitly tells you to. And double-check that your medical exam, police clearance, and affidavit of support documents are still valid for your updated date.
