Water damaged phone? DO NOT TRY THIS!! After many customers coming to our store with their phone inside a bag of rice, we simply had to post this tip.
Most people place their water damaged phone in a bag of rice thinking it will absorb the water from the inside of the phone. This method is incorrect. Rice consists of starch and other organic minerals that will leave a sticky residue once it dries up, leading to further problems.
First thing to do: IF YOU CAN, take your phone apart by removing the glass so the inside can dry quicker, and lightly tap a clean towel to the wet areas. If you are unable to do this, do not turn the phone on and take it to the nearest repair shop right away. Time is essential, the quicker you can dry the water, the better.
However, if other liquids besides water entered the phone, and its been a few days, it may be unlikely to repair the phone. We don't charge our customers if the phone is not repaired. So, it may not hurt to just have it checked out by your nearest cell phone tech.
