Yellow jackets for days… 🐝

Yellow jackets can get pretty creative when it comes to where they build their nests. They’ll squeeze through tiny cracks in siding and build inside wall voids (the empty spaces inside your walls), or they’ll make their home deep underground!

When they’re nesting inside a wall, you usually won’t see the actual nest. Instead, you’ll notice a steady stream of yellow jackets coming and going through one small opening on the outside of the structure.

Sometimes that little opening is the only sign of what’s hiding inside 👀

🍁 Think it’s too late in the season to spray? Think again!

Fall treatments aren’t just about the bugs you see- they’re about preventing overwintering pests from getting inside ➡️ 🏠

As temperatures drop, boxelder bugs, asian lady beetles, spiders, wasps, and other fall invaders start searching for warm, protected places to spend the winter ❄️ Treating exterior entry points now can help stop them before they settle into your home for the season!

🍂 Why are boxelder bugs suddenly EVERYWHERE?!

They didn’t appear overnight! As temperatures cool, boxelder bugs start searching for warm, protected places to spend the winter 🏡

☀️ Sunny fall days draw them to warm south- and west-facing walls, and once a few gather, more follow—which is why it can suddenly look like they exploded in numbers!

Now is the best time to treat before they make their way into cracks, siding, and wall voids for winter!

Inside view of a Bald-faced hornets nest!! 🤩 I’ve never seen one on glass like this before!

Fun Facts:

🐝 They’re not actually hornets! Bald-faced hornets are a type of yellowjacket wasp, named for the white markings on their faces.

🐝 They build super impressive paper nests- They chew up wood fibers, mix them with saliva, and turn the mixture into the gray, football-shaped nests!
