Not enough people care, or did care about the pine beetle problem and what’s even more disappointing even less actually cared about the trees… Can’t say I didn’t try to warn long long ago…

A portion of all proceeds will be put into a fund for community SPB removal as well, I want to help stop this in communities large and small not only for people that own huge tracts of land. I will be working in conjunction with others in setting up a donation fund to help stop this issue across Long Island and for the replanting of new trees.

Making progress, I just spoke to Dr Matt Ayres again and he said the information I provided to him is the most persise and extensive that currently exists for Long Island and he want to collaborate with me on the efforts with the DEC and other agencies!! This is great news!!

I hope this cold holds a little longer, in order to start killing off the SPB the temperatures need to reach and then drop below 1 degree, but to really drop their numbers it needs to reach -7 degrees sustained for at least 12+ hours. I hope the wind-chill helps...

Today I met with the top researchers and foremost authority on SPB Dr Matt Ayres from Dartmouth College has studied the SPB extensively and we will be sharing information going forward. He held a symposium this afternoon at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum to discuss the issue we have on Long Island. In his words "Long Island has a ragging smokeless wildfire". Glad he came down!

The DEC is starting to take some action on the Southern Pine Beetle, but only in South Hampton state lands. The vast majority of the dozens of other sites will spread like wildfire. If you want to help the environment please take action and call TLC for Trees 631-835-1177, either for an inspection (or other services I offer) or to report an infested area. Im adding to my active site map daily and with support I can get a greater response from the state and county.
