A Hand To Lend Birth Doula Services Lisa Shire, Certified Birth Doula (DONA) Labouring Family Support Services

I successfully completed the Birth Doula Skills Workshop at the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations, Bastyr University, June 2012, where I was very fortunate to have the guidance of both Penny Simkin and Carrie Kenner. I have also completed courses in the Art of the Rebozo, the therapeutic use of T.E.N.S. units, and placenta encapsulation, as well as postpartum doula training with ProDoula

in 2015. I am a grateful and proud mother of two fantastic children, the births of each in their own very different beginnings have inspired me to help others in their path.

Postpartum Rage is a common experience for postpartum people despite the fact that it's not often screened for. It may seem safer to talk about feelings of sadness than anger, but we encourage you to reach out if you find yourself feeling anger as well.

Our midwives and other postpartum providers have many resources to help with the feelings that can flood you after your baby is born.

100 is done! I've been doing birth work for a little over 6 years now. For the first couple of years I only took 1 client per month so getting to 100 seemed like it would never happen. I feel so incredibly lucky and grateful to be doing this work that I love, there is nothing else that I would rather do. It can be tiring, heartbreaking, physically and mentally challenging but more than anything it is beautiful, uplifting, heartwarming, and amazing! I am so thankful for the help that I've received and for the wonderful families who have allowed me play a small role on their special day!
