It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our friend and mentor, Mike Rushing. He was the ultimate GIVER. Everything he did, he did for someone else. He will be deeply missed.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, MO from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Please wear something that shows how you are affiliated with an organization that Mike had an impact on (i.e. Soapbox Derby, Scouts, etc.)

Funeral will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 9, 2023 (with visitation between 10:00 am and 11:00 am) at New McKendree United Methodist Church South Campus.

An instance of child abuse occurs in the United States every 10 seconds. In our own area, the 32nd and 33rd Judicial Circuits of Missouri which includes Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Mississippi, Perry and Scott counties, over 610 children are currently in foster care due to child abuse and neglect. These children are innocent victims who need a voice in the system. Each of these children will end up in court and a judge will decide their future. A 𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣/𝘾𝘼𝙎𝘼 volunteer can speak on behalf of the child and provide the Court with additional information to allow them to make the most informed decision possible as to what is in the best interest of the child.

Voices for Children is one of 15 organizations that will benefit from the 2019 Captain Woody Tournament.

The 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙒𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 is a not-for-profit, private domestic violence agency that provides safe shelter, 24-hour crisis hot line services, intensive case management, counseling, court advocacy, referral services, and education programs.
