🌳🌧️ Throwback Thursday: A fallen tree, rainwater, and no power.

After a large tree fell on this home during a rainstorm, our immediate concern was rainwater entering through the damaged roof and causing further damage.

Our team tarped the roof as quickly as conditions safely allowed to help keep additional rain out. Then we got to work mitigating the damage inside. 💪

The power had also been knocked out, so we brought in a generator to power our equipment and keep the mitigation process moving.

Jobs like this come with plenty of challenges, and our team showed up ready to work through them. We’re grateful our customers trust us to help protect their homes when the unexpected happens. 🏡🧡

⛈️ MISSISSIPPI: LET’S GET STORM READY.

As Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast, Mississippi’s impacts will vary by location. The Jackson area is forecast to see rain and gusty winds tonight into Saturday. Parts of eastern Mississippi face greater concerns for heavier rainfall and flash flooding, while coastal communities should remain alert for coastal flooding and storm surge.

Gusty winds could also bring down limbs and cause power outages. Prepare now, while conditions are safe:

✅ Gather drinking water, nonperishable food, medications

✅ Prepare for a power outage: Charge phones and power banks. Have flashlights and batteries ready. Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible if power goes out.

✅ Clear gutters, downspouts, and yard drains: Clear leaves and debris from yard drains before the storm so water has a path away from your property.

✅ Watch for water intrusion: Look for leaks around windows, doors, and ceilings. Stay clear of sagging ceilings.

✅ Move valuables off the floor in areas prone to flooding: Relocate electronics, keepsakes, and important belongings to higher areas if flooding is possible.

✅ Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and loose items

🏙️ Throwback Thursday: Standard Life Building Edition!

A middle-of-the-night call sent our crews to the Standard Life Building after a candle fire activated the sprinkler system on the 14th floor. The system ran for a considerable amount of time before being shut off, leaving extensive water damage.

Multiple crews arrived and got straight to work. This was one of the larger losses we’ve mitigated, but our dedicated team was more than ready to take it on. 💪

And the extra challenge? The elevator wasn’t working. Our crews had to carry equipment up flight after flight of stairs. Who needs a gym membership when your shift includes dehumidifiers and 14 floors of cardio?! 🥵😂

A huge shout-out to everyone who put in the hard work that night. Big jobs take teamwork, and this crew delivered—one step at a time. 👏🧡

Restoration 1 of Eastern Iowa is celebrating a major milestone — 10 years of serving homeowners, businesses, and communities throughout Eastern Iowa.

In September 2016, Restoration 1 of Eastern Iowa officially opened its doors. What began with a small team, a couple of vehicles, and a commitment to helping people through some of their most stressful moments has grown into a thriving local restoration company with a dedicated team and strong roots throughout the community.

Over the past decade, the Eastern Iowa team has responded to countless water losses, fires, mold concerns, and other property emergencies. While the equipment, vehicles, and team have grown over the years, the mission has remained the same: to be there for customers when they need help most.

Today, Restoration 1 of Eastern Iowa has grown to a team of eight, including four restoration technicians, a Business Development Manager, an Operations Manager, and owners Larry and Skyler.

Each member of the team plays an important role — from responding to emergency losses and guiding customers through the restoration process to developing relationships with local businesses, referral partners, and members of the Eastern Iowa community.

The team credits much of its success over the past 10 years to the people who have supported the business along the way.
