It was truly a day worth celebrating, and I was honored to be a small part of such a remarkable milestone!
On May 2nd, Ms. Ruby turned 100 years old, and on May 16th, family and friends gathered in Bolivar, TN to celebrate this incredible occasion with a birthday party in her honor. 🎉
I didn’t know Ms. Ruby prior to her birthday celebration, but one thing became clear the moment I walked into the room, she is deeply loved and respected. The room was filled with family, friends, laughter, and stories from a lifetime well lived. One of my favorite moments? Seeing her classmate there celebrating with her... and guess how old she was? 99!! Talk about goals. ❤️
The celebration was made even more special by the presence of local leaders, who presented Ms. Ruby with a 100th birthday proclamation in recognition of her remarkable life and contribution to her community. It was a touching tribute and a reflection of the respect and admiration so many people have for her.
Another unforgettable moment was seeing a beautiful portrait of Ms. Ruby created by one of her great-nieces, a tremendously talented visual artist. The portrait was stunning, not just in its likeness, but in the way it seemed to capture her spirit.
Born during the presidency of Calvin Coolidge, Ms. Ruby has lived through the Great Depression, World War II, the Moon Landing, the rise of the internet, and the smartphone era. When she was born, the average American life expectancy was about 57 years. Today, at 100 years young, she is part of a truly extraordinary group, as fewer than one-third of one percent of Americans reach this milestone.
What an incredible life. What an incredible legacy.
I absolutely loved meeting Ms. Ruby, and I think I can speak for everyone in the room when I say it was a joy and a privilege to celebrate this beautiful lady and all the lives she has touched over the last century. Here’s to 100 years of memories, love, resilience, and grace. 💕✨
Happy 100th Birthday, Ms. Ruby! 🎂❤️🎉🥳
