An ideal starter flock is three young ewes, one young stud, and an older ewe to teach the new lambs what medicinal plants to eat.

I've seen more of our ewes producing twins and even triplets this year, and I credit it all to nutrition!

My flowers are feeding my sheep.

Drought conditions mean the nursing mothers need off-farm nutrients and sales from the flower farm are helping cover the costs of this emergency. It's always a collaborative effort!

The dean of the Zaragoza Veterinary School hosted 5 foreign veterinarians ( Brazil, Uruguay, Iran and USA) for a faculty reception and lunch then a tour of the teaching, research and food science buildings.

We retired to faculty offices where there was an exciting exchange of gifts of textbooks as souvenirs!

I came away with a book about collecting and administration of colostrum as well as plant toxicology references and pathology textbooks! Just what I could really use.
A new textbook about sheep lameness will be published soon.

It was a GREAT day.

Birthing had begun at my farm.

Our 8 month drought in Louisiana pales in comparison and we should thank God for our abundance.

The farmers here have managed to find systems to carve a life out of what looks like a moonscape. I have to put my eye at ground level to detect a hint of green.

I am hoping to learn the techniques they gained in more than 2000 yrs of experience living with the land and using whatever nature gives. They plant and wait and hope just like all farmers. These farmers wait longer than we do.
