IT in the north country can get pretty exciting at times.
This email string from one of our camp customers today made us chuckle. It's 100% real.

Customer:
Hi, The nurses seem to be having issues with the phones in the Infirmary. At your convenience, please stop by and check it out.
Thank you.

NL Support:
Hi, What sort of issues? Just so I'm prepared to deal with things. Both phones or just one? Which one, the portable or the branded phone?

Customer:
I'm not sure about which phone. And, they may be confused about how they work together (or do they?).
I do know they are having trouble accessing their voicemail.

NL Support:
Okie dokie. I can help with that.
Would it be possible to speak with them directly at some point?

Customer:
There was a power outage on that side of camp Friday night. A bear fell out of a tree and hit the power line.
Maybe that is the issue?

NL Support:
That may have something to do with it.
That made me laugh but I do feel bad for the poor bear. Did he make it?

Customer:
As far as we know the bear was not injured in the fall. Apparently staff was ready with fire extinguishers in case the bear caught on fire.

Please be aware that there is a growing frequency of email phishing and social scams aimed at redirecting employee direct deposit payments.

In the most recent cases finance and payroll clerks received fake email requests to change an employee's direct deposit bank account. Most often the funds are transferred and not recovered.

We urge employers and staff to be aware and on the lookout for this type of scam, and to adopt a policy of Direct Verification, preferably in person or at the least via the phone number on the employee’s record, before making direct deposit or requested electronic banking information changes. Scammers can typically give you a bogus email address and call-back phone number.

We have awesome customers. Occasionally we have to postpone an appointment to jump on an emergency situation with another client. The strike in this picture caused one such emergency in Ossipee last night. The customer is back up & running this morning. Thanks for your patience!
