Check the license.

In Tennessee, private investigators have to be licensed. Ask for the license number and verify it. No license, no hire. It's the fastest way to w**d out the amateurs.

πŸ” PI MYTHS vs REALITY
MYTH: "A PI can hack phones and pull bank records."
REALITY: Licensed investigators work inside the law β€” no hacking, no impersonating police, no illegal wiretaps. What we CAN do: public records, legal databases, in-person interviews, and lawful surveillance. Anyone promising illegal shortcuts isn't an investigator β€” they're a liability.

πŸ” PI MYTHS vs REALITY
MYTH: "Private investigators just catch cheating spouses."
REALITY: That's the TV version. At 731 Investigations, most of our work is criminal defense β€” tracking down witnesses, verifying alibis, and uncovering evidence the other side missed. Cheating-spouse cases are only a small slice of what we do.

After an arrest, get off social media

Arrested or under investigation?

Rule #1: stop posting.
Prosecutors and investigators WILL look at your Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. That photo from last weekend, that angry rant, that "joke" in the comments β€” all of it can show up in court.
β€’ Don't post about your case
β€’ Don't delete old posts (that's destruction of evidence)
β€’ Tell friends and family not to post about it either
Lock it down. Go quiet. Let your defense team do the talking.

"We just need you to come clear a few things up"

If detectives invite you to "chat" at the station, understand something: people who aren't suspects don't get invited to the station.

You are not legally required to go. And "just a few questions" is how cases get built β€” against the person answering them.

If police want to question you:
β€’ Ask: "Am I free to leave?"
β€’ If yes β€” leave.
β€’ If no β€” you're detained. Lawyer up and go silent.
Never walk into an interrogation room thinking it's a conversation.

"I have nothing to hide"

The most dangerous sentence you can say after an arrest:

Here's why: innocent people talk their way INTO charges every day. You misremember a time. You contradict yourself under stress. You try to "explain" and accidentally admit to something.

The police are allowed to lie to you. You are not allowed to lie to them.

Say this instead: "I'm exercising my right to remain silent. I want a lawyer."

Then stop talking.

"You don't mind if we take a look around, do you?"

That question is a trap. If police ask to search your car, home, or phone β€” you can say NO.

They need one of three things to search you:
β€’ Your consent
β€’ A warrant
β€’ Probable cause + exigent circumstances

If you consent, anything they find is fair game β€” even stuff they weren't looking for.
The move: "I do not consent to any searches." Calm. Polite. Firm. Every time.

Arrested in Tennessee? Do these 3 things before you say a word:
1️⃣ Stay silent. You have the right β€” use it.
2️⃣ Ask for a lawyer. Say it clearly: "I want an attorney."
3️⃣ Don't consent to any searches.
Everything you say WILL be used against you. Nothing you say will talk you out of handcuffs.
Then get someone investigating YOUR side of the story.
