❄️ When in doubt, get a second opinion.
I was called out to look at this refrigerator after another technician had already been there. According to the customer, they were charged about $100 and told to unplug the refrigerator for three days. After thawing, it worked for a short time, but before long the same problem returned.
After inspecting the unit, it was clear that the defrost system was not functioning properly. As a result, the evaporator became completely covered in ice again, restricting airflow and causing cooling issues.
Unfortunately, some problems may appear fixed after a manual defrost, but if the underlying cause isn’t addressed, the issue will return.
