Windmill Consulting

Windmill Consulting Windmill Consulting is a Jacksonville, Florida based firm specializing in urban planning, historic preservation, and real estate brokerage services!

We will be adding more information in the coming days about our services, in the meantime, here is a bit more information about Jack Shad, Principal. Jack Shad is a planning and development professional, and licensed real estate broker, with extensive experience in government, investment, project management and community organizations. He was born and raised in Jacksonville, received his BA and Ma

ster's in Urban Planning from the University of Florida, and began his professional career in 1999 at a small nonprofit in Boston devoted to historic preservation, and began to realize the tremendous potential of Jacksonville (and felt the pull, as a native, to return and become a part of the city's renaissance). He spent several years with the Jacksonville Planning and Development Department, where he worked on everything from large scale district plans and neighborhood revitalization efforts to comprehensive plan amendments and historic preservation reviews. Jack was involved with Riverside Avondale Preservation from 2003 to 2011, including 6 years on the Board Directors. In 2004 he left the City to become the project manager for the award-winning historic rehabilitation of the 5 Points Theatre Building. This $4 million project managed to remain fully occupied throughout the recession. He was personally involved in downtown development as a part owner of the Main Branch Library project. Jack also enjoyed consulting on planning projects and helping small businesses, such as Downtown favorite, Burrito Gallery, navigate permitting and licensing. During this time, Jack also worked with buyers, sellers, renters, and investors as a real estate agent, specializing in Downtown, and the city's historic districts. In 2011, Jack was appointed by Mayor Alvin Brown to head the City’s Office of Public Parking, where he oversaw a staff of over 40 and a budget of over $4 million. While at the Office of Public Parking, Jack spearheaded a number of innovative projects, such as bringing food trucks to downtown Jacksonville, securing a free trial of real-time parking meter sensors and smartphone app, and installing the first electric vehicle charging stations downtown. At the same time, the Office generated over $2.5 million in net revenue for the City. Jack is excited to return to urban planning and historic preservation consulting, while incorporating the skills he learned working in a management role for city government. His passion is helping make Jacksonville a place that is convenient, welcoming and exciting to live, work and visit, while assisting businesses and investors in maximizing their return on investment!

Hightide Burrito is growing! Our second location is under construction and will represent the next phase in this local concept. The location will continue the same food vibe with some new additions sprinkled throughout. We will have a full bar with a great patio...the food will be counter service during the day and we are exploring the idea of doing table service in the evening. We are looking to assemble our rockstar team and currently focusing on General Mgr, Bar Manager, Kitchen Mgr and Front of House Mgr. Direct message me or email resume to [email protected] if you are interested in establishing yourself in our growing concept!

We need to do a better job of using what we have in Jacksonville. And what we have a lot of downtown, is roads and pavement.

A Bike Lane For Downtown's Hogan Street? April 2, 2018 Could protected bike lanes finally be coming to downtown Jacksonville?
