Just a couple of upcoming deadlines to track in your calendars!

Here are a few notes to help you navigate this season:

- You have one week to file those 1099-NEC.

- If you made an s-election (created and S-Corp) for 2023, you will need to produce a K1 for your personal taxes. Your CPA needs your business income and expenses to file your business tax return by March 15th.

- Don't wait until the deadline to file, especially if you know you owe taxes. You want to stay ahead of the game and know exactly how much you need to send with your return. Remember, the tax payment is due with the return! Filing an extension doesn't extend the due date for your payment.

Another truth bomb from Tax-Free Wealth. The states take their sales tax seriously, and so should you.

The rules and ragulations for collecting sales tax vary by state and locality, so it is important to research and understand the requirements for your business.

Generally, businesses must register with the state and obtain a sales tax permit, collect and remit the appropriate amount of tax on taxable sales, and file regular sales tax returns monthly.

These are some things to consider before jumping into business selling physical products or starting the merch arm of your service based business.
