“The most dangerous problems in a nonprofit aren’t always the ones the public can see.”

Some problems never appear in an annual report.

Some never make the meeting minutes.

Some are hidden behind impressive titles, polished presentations, and good intentions.
And those are often the ones that cost the most.

What if your organization could address ADA challenges before they become workplace problems?

ADA compliance shouldn’t begin when a complaint is filed or a difficult situation arises. It starts with having the right processes, communication, and understanding already in place.

In this episode of Christina’s Corner, we explore what it means to take a proactive approach to ADA compliance:

✔️ Building clear and consistent processes
✔️ Preventing common accommodation challenges
✔️ Strengthening communication between employees and leadership
✔️ Creating a workplace where people feel supported and heard

Being proactive doesn’t just help with compliance. It helps build a stronger workplace culture.

The minutes document the meeting. They do not always document what shaped the decision.

Private conversations, alliances, unspoken disagreements, and discussions that happen before and after the official vote can influence a nonprofit far more than most people realize.

What never makes the minutes?

We pray for increase, but we also have to pray for the wisdom to manage what increase brings.

Because more revenue does not automatically mean more stewardship.

More money can expose poor habits just as quickly as it can create new opportunities.

So this prayer is not only about provision. It is about discipline, wisdom, character, and trust.

Father, teach us how to handle what You place in our hands.

Give us wisdom in spending, saving, investing, giving, pricing, debt, payroll, taxes, growth, and profitability. Keep us from making financial decisions rooted in fear, pride, pressure, or comparison.

And as You increase our capacity, increase our character.

May greater revenue never create greater distance from You.
May growth never outrun wisdom.
May profit never replace purpose.
May every resource entrusted to us be managed faithfully.

We don’t just want more. We want to be trustworthy with more.

Leadership will convince you that you have to drive everything.

Drive the strategy.
Drive the results.
Drive the team.
Drive the growth.
Drive the opportunity.

But faith keeps reminding us:
You were never supposed to be in control of everything.

Sometimes your job is to buckle up, trust God, and let Him direct the route. Father, keep me from confusing leadership with control. Teach me to lead responsibly while still surrendering completely.

Sometimes the mission isn’t the problem.
The people around the table are.

Because an organization can survive limited resources, difficult seasons, and changing circumstances, but dysfunction at the leadership table can quietly dismantle everything it was created to protect.

There’s more to this story.

Most people will never see your valuation model.

They won't read your procedures.
They won't study your internal processes.

What they will notice is whether similar situations appear to receive similar treatment.

Public confidence is built when decisions are not only fair, but are understood to be fair.

Consistency isn't simply an operational objective.

It's the foundation of credibility.

I'm looking forward to discussing how leadership, judgment, and process all contribute to public trust at the IAAO Annual Conference.

Sometimes the prayer isn’t simply, “God, open the door.”

Sometimes it has to be:
“God, open the right door.”

Because every opportunity is not provision.
Every introduction is not alignment.
Every contract is not assignment.
And everything that looks like favor is not necessarily from God.

So in this season, I’m praying for more than access. I’m praying for discernment.

Lord, send the right clients, contracts, partners, employees, advisors, relationships, resources, and opportunities. Put our names before the right people, at the right time, for the right reasons.

And if something would distract us, delay us, compromise us, or pull us outside Your will—give us the wisdom to let it pass.

Protect us from counterfeit opportunities that look like answered prayers but cost us our alignment.

Provide what is necessary for the assignment.
Give favor where favor is needed.
Open what no one can shut.
And close what we should never have to force.

If you’re building, believing, waiting, or standing at the edge of your next opportunity, pray this with me. 🙏🏽

Sometimes God changes your view before He changes your circumstances.

Leadership can keep us so focused on the next decision, deadline, meeting, opportunity, and responsibility that we forget to look up.
But perspective matters.

God, let me see what You see.
Show me what deserves my attention.
What I need to release.
Who I need to notice.
Where I need to grow.

And what I’ve been too busy to recognize.
A different view can change the way you lead.

Today, we open the boardroom doors.

Secrets of Nonprofit Boardrooms Revealed: The Untold Stories of Power, Passion, and Betrayal by Yara Banks, MBA, CHRMAP is officially here.

Bold, elegant, and unapologetically honest, this book looks beneath the polished surface of nonprofit leadership and explores what really happens when mission, personalities, loyalty, power, trust, and accountability collide around the table.

This is not simply a book about nonprofit governance. It is a book about the people behind the mission.

Inside, readers will gain a deeper understanding of boardroom power dynamics, founder and board relationships, broken trust, leadership conflict, succession, institutional knowledge, accountability, culture, and the difficult decisions that can either strengthen an organization or quietly pull it apart.

For nonprofit founders, board members, executives, emerging leaders, consultants, and anyone responsible for protecting a mission, this book offers something invaluable: the opportunity to recognize problems before they become crises, ask better questions, strengthen governance, preserve institutional knowledge, and lead with greater clarity and intention.

Because a powerful mission is only part of the story.

What happens behind the boardroom doors can determine whether that mission thrives, struggles, or survives at all.

The secrets are out. The conversations are beginning. And the boardroom will never look quite the same again.
