Having a baby in the NICU is one of the most challenging times a parent can face.

In our newest blog, our Marketing Specialist, Lacorya Roark, shares what it was like watching her aunt and uncle navigate this experience with her cousin, Anna. Born prematurely at just 32 weeks, weighing less than 2 pounds, and diagnosed with Trisomy 18, Anna spent the first six months of her life in the NICU.

Earlier this month, Seal Shield attended Medical Fair Asia in Singapore, connecting with healthcare professionals and resellers from across Southeast Asia. The event gave us an opportunity to introduce our infection prevention solutions and learn more about the region's approach to healthcare technology.

One of the biggest takeaways was how unfamiliar washable keyboards and mice are in many of the markets represented at the show. Many attendees had never used a washable keyboard before, creating opportunities to introduce a different approach to cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched technology.

Alongside washable keyboards and mice, we also saw interest in screen protectors and CleanSlate UV, highlighting the different ways technology can support infection prevention in healthcare environments.

These conversations gave us valuable insight into the region's needs and the opportunities to bring washable technology and other infection prevention solutions to more healthcare organizations throughout Southeast Asia.

Last week, Seal Shield attended the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) conference. The event gave us the opportunity to connect with neonatal nurses and healthcare professionals who are on the front lines of caring for newborns and supporting their families.

Throughout the event, we had conversations about some of the everyday infection prevention challenges in the NICU. One topic that really stood out was how parents and visitors are often asked to place their phones in plastic baggies before entering the NICU. While this can help address infection prevention concerns, it can also make it more difficult to take photos, record videos, or connect with loved ones.

NICU visits shouldn't have to mean sacrificing the ability to capture important memories.

UV sanitization may offer a simpler approach, allowing parents to sanitize their phones before entering the NICU while keeping them accessible during their visit. These insightful conversations left us thinking about how practical technology solutions can support both infection prevention and family connection.
