Hello everyone, and happy carrying! While I have not been doing much in-person teaching these days, I have spent the past 2 years serving on the board of the wonderful organization Baby Carriers Provided (a.k.a. BCP).

Do you miss the community provided by babywearing groups? Are you interested in connecting with other caregivers who also carry their babies? Do you have questions about carrying? BCP offers monthly online Open Houses that might be what you are looking for. :) They are also a great opportunity to learn more about BCP.

If you like, please consider putting these Saturdays in your calendar and plan to come when you can? I will create events for each of these dates as well!

ABOUT THE OPEN HOUSES: The open houses are an hour long, open to all, and intended for the general public to gather and learn more about using carriers and BCP and the work we're doing. Each open house includes a 15-minute carrier lesson with some time for questions. Partners and educators are welcome to come observe our teaching methods.

This is your last opportunity to buy a sling from Sleeping Baby Productions. 💔

I thought December was probably a bad time to shut things down -- music performance, my day job, and family all kept me too busy to make a final push on FB for slings.

Soooo January 19 is the final date I will be sewing slings -- it's my ASTM testing anniversary, and that's a hard stopping point from a compliance perspective. If you might ever want a Sleeping Baby Productions ring sling, please get your orders in before the 19th!

Thank you for 20+ wonderful years of sewing for you and your family

Just finished attending this month's Baby Carriers Provided open house with great meh dai instruction by Leslie Kung, and a great discussion afterward. After Leslie demonstrated how a meh dai could be used in a torso carry (brilliant! I had never thought to do that!), the attendees discussed the positioning of babies in back carries.

I remembered how comfortable a torso carry was for me using a woven wrap with my older baby/young toddler. Torso carries put the load closer to the pelvis, which is the body's strongest joint, and it certainly was a great carry for me with my lower back issues. In this photo, I am demonstrating a torso carry with a wrap. My baby was (and still is!) very long so the photo is deceiving - she was definitely positioned lower than she looks!

Have you used a torso carry? What did you like about it? How old was your wearee when you used it the most?
