has rapidly intensified into a category 4 hurricane overnight with winds of 130 mph. The center is 60 miles west of Cedar Key and will make landfall this morning along the Big Bend coast of FL. After landfall, Idalia is forecast to turn toward the northeast and east-northeast, moving near or along the coasts of GA, SC, and NC late today and Thursday where it may still be a hurricane as it crosses SE GA & coastal SC. Destructive life-threatening winds will occur where the core of Idalia moves onshore in the Big Bend region of Florida along with catastrophic storm surge up to 12-16 feet. Strong winds and heavy rain will also spread inland across portions of northern Florida and southern Georgia near the track of the center of Idalia where Hurricane Warnings are in effect. Residents in these areas should be prepared for long-duration power outages. Please stay safe if you are along the path of .
