Our "Quench our Crew" Hydration Donation event today was a ROARING success!

Caring neighbors from around the corner and around the county stepped up BIG and delivered dozens of cases of water and sports drinks to keep us well stocked, and we are so humbled and blessed for your support. Small families, small businesses and even bigger businesses from around the county like Sonic Drive-In all delivered more than water...they delivered love and support!

We are so very thankful and honored to live in, and serve such a special community!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

Our "Quench our crew" hydration drive is just a few days away, so we thought we'd share what we are up against when we have to fight fires in these hot summer conditions.

95Β° outside feels like almost 120Β° inside our turnout gear, and that doesn't include the heat we encounter in the fire itself!!

When it's this hot, hydration is the difference between us just being hot, or needing medical intervention.

πŸš’πŸ’§ Hydration Drive for Our Firefighters πŸ’§πŸš’

The summer heat is relentless, and our volunteers are working hard to serve and protect our community.

We're asking for donations of bottled water and sports drinks to help keep our crews hydrated and ready to respond.

We will be standing by at our Station at 904 Haws Run Road on Saturday, August 15th between 9 and noon to gratefully accept donations.

Every donation makes a difference. Thank you for supporting the Haws Run Volunteer Fire Department and the volunteers who serve you! ❀️

We recently had the opportunity to host a wonderful group of youngsters from Girl Scout Troop 1911. They came to our station to meet Captain Justin and Firefighter Austin. They got to see our station and equipment, and to learn important skills like how to call 911 for help, how to STOP-DROP & ROLL if they are on fire. They also got to see a Firefighter in thier full turnout and airpak so they won't be afraid of us if we ever have to come find them in a fire.

The Scouts had a great time and all left a whole lot better informed and prepared to help in an emergency

If you are looking for an excellent organization to help your young lady be a better educated and prepared citizen, consider connecting with Girl Scout Troop 1911

Shout out to Jones Onslow EMC for working hard these past couple of days getting the power back on. A lot take things for granted but like the fire department you guys are just as vital. Thanks for your dedication with the recent power outage.

07/12/2026

A large part of the area is experiencing a power outage. While having no power is a bummer, it can get a whole lot worse if you don't follow some basic safety rules:

If you are one of the lucky folks with a generator remember to only fuel and operate it OUTSIDE to avoid Carbon Monoxide from getting into living spaces. Shut the generator off and let it cool down before you attempt to add fuel. Follow basic electrical safety rules by not overloading your generator or power cords

If you don't have a generator, please only use flashlights or other battery powered lights - not 🚫 do not use candles πŸ•―οΈ πŸ”₯

As of this moment JOEMC is working on the issue and projects to have power restored by 830 am

Stay safe!!

The Fire Service is built on traditions of service to our community, our nation and the people with whom we dedicate our lives, and honoring their memory when they have passed.

Today we honor Ssgt T.J. Dudley, who made the supreme sacrifice while serving with the USMC in Afghanistan,15 years ago today.

T.J. wasn't just a Marine, he was also a volunteer Firefighter in our department. He served as a Captain and was a remarkable firefighter and leader. His contributions to our department and community are still evident today. Beyond his time with us, we are now thrilled that T.J.s spirit of service lives on through his son, Carter, who recently joined our ranks.

Please take a moment to honor T.J.s service and to congratulate his son on stepping forward to fill his father's boots

Under the heading of "you can't make this stuff up"...

We have responded to not 1, but 2 fires this year that were caused by dogs and stoves ‼️

In both of these cases, someone left food / groceries on the stove, and in trying to access the food, the dogs accidentally turned on the stove, causing the material on the stove top to burn! πŸ”₯

We see two of these rare incidents happening in the span of a couple of months to be clear warning for us all to pay a lot more attention to fire safety in the kitchen!!!

Keep your food secured and your pups AWAY from the stove!!
