Today, I needed to hear my own words.

I needed to remind myself of the woman who stood on that stage and declared that the fire didn’t destroy her—it refined her.

Life will test you. It will disappoint you. It will force you to make hard decisions, release what no longer serves you, and sometimes choose yourself even when choosing yourself hurts.

But the fire has a purpose.

It builds character.
It strengthens discernment.
It raises your standards.
And sometimes, the fire is where God reminds you exactly whose daughter you are.

“Baby, you are MY daughter. I am the King, which makes you royalty. I did not create you to beg for what should be given freely. I did not call you higher just for you to lower yourself to keep something. And I will never require you to become less than the woman I created you to be just to hold on to something I never asked you to settle for.”

Whew. Sometimes you have to remember who your Father is before you can remember who YOU are.

I have been through too much, healed through too much, prayed through too much, and fought too hard to become this woman to accept mediocre, bare-minimum effort in ANY area of my life.

And maybe somebody else needs that reminder today too.

You are not going through the fire just to come out on the other side and shrink.

You are being refined.

This morning, I was getting in my car when I heard a LOUD whistle coming from the Culver’s parking lot across the street. 😃

I turned around, smiled, and my immediate thought was:

“I know THAT’S right. I agree.”

Because listen… I’m not going to act like attention doesn’t feel good. A compliment is nice. Being noticed is nice. A little outside validation can definitely put an extra pep in your step.

But I already felt good BEFORE the whistle.

I woke up feeling good. I got dressed feeling good. I looked in the mirror and thought, “Damn, I look good today.” And I walked out of my house already carrying that confidence.

Ladies, there is a difference between GETTING attention and SEEKING attention.

You can enjoy being noticed without needing to be noticed.

You can appreciate a compliment without depending on compliments.

You can walk into a room, command attention, and never have walked in looking for it.

THAT is confidence.

And you know what? The same thing applies in business.

There is a difference between being recognized and constantly seeking recognition.

You shouldn’t need likes, applause, invitations, awards, bookings, or somebody else’s stamp of approval to convince you that you’re good at what you do.

Do the work.
Build the skill.
Know your value.
Show up with excellence.
And walk into the room already knowing what you bring to the table.

Recognition is wonderful. Opportunities are wonderful. Being celebrated for your work is wonderful.

But none of those things should CREATE your confidence. They should meet confidence that was already there.

That’s true for your body.
That’s true for your beauty.
That’s true for your business.
That’s true for your gifts.

Compliments should be confirmation—not the foundation.

Because when nobody is looking, liking, booking, calling, inviting, nominating, or applauding, you still have to know you’re THAT woman.

So no, I didn’t need that whistle this morning to know I looked damn good.

Baby, have you SEEN this silhouette?! 😂

But I heard it, smiled, and thought:

“I know that’s right. I agree.”

The attention didn’t create my confidence.

It just agreed with it.

And that’s exactly how I’m walking into every room—and every business opportunity. 💅🏾🔥
