✨ I asked the Universe for a sign...

Not a subtle hint.
Not a coincidence.
An actual sign.

And there it was, written across the clouds:
♻️ "Recycle your technology at URT."

Whether it's outdated electronics, tangled cords, or equipment collecting dust, responsible recycling helps protect the environment and keeps valuable materials in circulation.

Sometimes the answer is right in front of us.

Welcome to Obsolete Devices Support Group—where forgotten tech comes together to share their stories. You’ve got the old VCR in the corner still talking about ‘the good old days,’ a couple of retired monitors reminiscing about when they actually had a purpose, and a group of devices quietly realizing they’ve been replaced by something thinner, faster, and already outdated too.

It’s a tough crowd in here—but the message is simple: don’t let your old tech sit around collecting dust, taking up space, or causing you a headache every time you walk past it. Save yourself the frustration, clear out the clutter, and recycle responsibly to give these devices a second life where they actually belong.

Because while they may be obsolete in your office or home… they still have value when they’re handled the right way.

Welcome to Part 4 of our monthly series, Myth Buster Monday, where we break down common myths and misconceptions in the tech and e-waste world.

Myth: Recycling one old device doesn’t really make a difference.
Busted: Every device recycled responsibly helps reduce e-waste and recover valuable materials.

One phone, laptop, or tablet may seem small, but when millions of devices are improperly discarded or left unused, the environmental impact adds up quickly. Proper electronics recycling helps keep harmful waste out of landfills, supports material recovery, and gives old technology a safer next step.

Every device counts. ♻️

OEMs and enterprise organizations are asking bigger questions about transparency, accountability, ESG performance, and lifecycle management.

This article highlights why the future of electronics recovery requires more than a traditional recycler — it requires a true lifecycle complexity solutions partner.

Universal Recycling Technologies, LLC. (URT) is the lifecycle solutions partner OEMs and manufacturers increasingly need.

Strong words from our President Ken Thomas on one of the biggest challenges facing the electronics recycling industry today: plastics accountability.

Responsible electronics recycling goes far beyond collection numbers and certifications. True stewardship requires transparency, compliant downstream processing, and long-term investment in sustainable solutions, especially when it comes to plastics at end of their life cycle.

At URT, we believe accountability, domestic processing capabilities, and verifiable downstream compliance are essential to protecting the future credibility of our industry.

A great read for anyone involved in electronics recycling, sustainability, OEM compliance, or circular economy initiatives.

By Ken Thomas President Universal Recycling Technologies   For years, the electronics recycling industry has focused heavily on collection volumes, commodity recovery, and certification branding. Meanwhile, one of the most difficult and important environmental challenges in our industry has remaine...
