We spent the evening breaking down how the returning team can keep the upper hand trading frantic scramble mode for deep, intentional return of serves and lethal 4th-shot placements.

Wishing for an easy match is a surefire way to stall your progress.

This Week’s Mindset: Pressure is a privilege; embrace the challenge.

The Lesson:
When you step onto the court against opponents who push you to your limits, it is easy to feel overwhelmed or start playing cautiously. But those high-stress, tight-score situations are exactly where your game evolves. Nerves just mean you care, and pressure means the moment has value. Instead of wishing the game was easier or backing down, lean into it. You have earned the opportunity to test your skills when it counts.

🛠️ The Paddle Up Playbook: Mechanics Edition

Stop playing right into your opponents' hands at the net.

This Week’s Mechanic: If you drive the third shot, try dropping the fifth.

The Strategy:
If you hit your third shot hard (a drive), the ball is usually going to get blocked right back to you very fast. If you just keep hitting it hard again and again, you are in a chaotic battle where the team already at the net has the advantage. Instead, use that fast return to hit a soft, gentle ball into the kitchen for your next hit (the fifth shot). This simple change of pace slows the game down and gives you the exact time you need to safely walk up to the line.
