TheJarrell area is at a Slight (2 of 5) for strong to severe thunderstorms associated with two fronts coming in on Tuesday and then Wednesday. If storms develop on Tuesday, all hazards are possible. Wednesday’s front may bring large hail and damaging winds, but a tornado cannot be ruled out. Wednesday will also bring 0.5-1.0 inches of rain and a marginal risk for excessive rainfall.

East central Burnet County in south central Texas... * Until 500 PM CDT. * At 405 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Leander, or near Cedar Park, moving north at 20 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Public. Quarter inch hail was reported 3 miles southwest of Leander at 401 PM. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Cedar Park, Georgetown, Leander, Liberty Hill, Florence, Mahomet, Andice, Briggs, Sun City, Georgetown Dam, Jonestown and Seward Junction.

An active day is expected with all hazards of severe weather possible, with large hail being the biggest concern this afternoon and evening. A Level 2 of 5 (Slight Risk) is in place for the Hill Country, I-35 corridor, and the Coastal Plains for severe storms.

There are several days of active weather forecasted, beginning this afternoon. Tomorrow is the highest risk of severe storms for the Jarrell area, with a Slight (2 of 5) for isolated severe thunderstorms to Thursday afternoon/evening. All hazards are possible, but large hail is the primary concern.

The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 4 AM to 4 PM CDT Wednesday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * WINDS...North 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 percent. * IMPACTS...Any wildfires that develop could be difficult to control and will likely spread rapidly.

Isolated to Scattered strong to severe storms will be possible late this afternoon and evening for the northern Hill Country and northern I35 corridor.

Large hail will be the main risk, but an isolated tornado or damaging straight line winds cannot be ruled out.
