today i opened the door to take a walk & promptly turned around and went back inside.
✨
back when it was warm out and i didn’t have to wear a million layers to walk outside i found this little park w a fun bird statue and cute bench.
✨
the park was tiny, but the paths were paved and it had a couple of interesting art pieces, so i’d give it like a 6/10.

winter therapy tub set up!

usually in the winter i am able to swim in a therapy pool at one of the local hospitals. but i’m still isolating for covid, so that’s not happening.
✨
this year we got an event tent to help keep the wind off of me, brought out the space heater, threw the towels in the dryer, and turned the hot tub up to 94°.
✨
it’s still pretty cold and not something i’ll do when it is less than 35° out, but it is certainly better than not being able to swim at all this winter. ✨

wow! i missed talking about bathrooms!

when we went to colorado we stayed in the accessible cottage at river rock cottages in estes park.
✨
this is the first time we’ve stayed in a cottage instead of a hotel, and it was really nice. we felt safe isolating and the bathroom was spacious enough for pretty much any type of transfer. the shower was small, so the bathroom flooded Every Time i showered.
✨
while flooded bathrooms are a pain, it happens pretty much everywhere so i’m not mad about it. overall good bathroom and great trip!

you can tell this photo was taken at the end of the trip, because i am not so much sitting on the bench but falling off of the bench.

this trail is sprague lake, which is absolutely stunning, fully accessible AND has an accessible back country campsite. backcountry camping is of course not really accessible to everyone, but it’s nice to know that if you can sleep without electricity there’s campsites in that can accommodate wheelchairs.

the cool thing about in the autumn is the elk. the annoying thing about rmnp in the autumn is also the elk.

the path around lake estes is fully accessible and paved (tg, bc gravel was getting exhausting by the end of the trip). it is also not short and would have made for a good hike, but a herd of elk decided that it was a good napping spot, so a good chunk of it was closed to humans.

i don’t actually remember what trail this bench was on, but this december weather is making me miss autumn in the mountains.
